I cannot thank you enough for the tips on capping the game @30fps!!
I had already given up hope because every other capping solution had problems (vsync half-refresh rate gave input lag, multiplayer skill bar didn't work, longer loading times, extra stuttering unless game ran borderless windowed, etc)
I used only "-GameTime.MaxVariableFps 30" in the "game properties" on Origin and it did the trick (I have a regular 1080p / 60Hz monitor).
I really prefer 60fps in most games but, overall, DAI is so much prettier @high, specially shadows and HBAO. Besides, I got variable frame rates from 35 in npc-crowded areas to 45 during combat and 60 while exploring. Not mentioning the cutscenes and minor NPC animations capped @30fps (like the soldiers camped outside the first main base moving at 30fps even though the rest of the game was 60). All that was extremely distracting and kind of frustrating to me. I really don't understand why Bioware hasn't put an in-game graphic option for this.
Thanks again!
No worries, I am really glad this thread made a positive difference to your enjoyment of the game! Have a blast playing and please come back if you encounter any other problems and we'll sort them out together!
Does anyone know how to increase the amount of motion blur? I'm capping at 30fps (also tried 29.99 - couldn't tell the difference. What is the difference?) and it is slightly juddery. It was the same with Crysis 3, but I found the motion blur helped there when capping at 30.
Here there doesn't seem to be much motion blur at all, even though all my settings are on max (except MSAA).
Any advice would be appreciated
Thank you very much for an excellent question!
The reason I suggested people used a value of "29.99" instead of "30" for a 30 FPS framerate cap is because the GameTime.MaxVariableFps command actually uses floating numbers, not integers. Because of this, a lot of players have reported better results when using floating numbers that were 0.01 less than their desired framerate cap/actual refresh rate. Check out this old Battlefield 4 thread to see what I mean: http://battlelog.bat...221075807811/1/. I just realised that I haven't added this source to the OP before, so I will do so right now!
As for the motion blur, it can probably be increased by using tweaking the following commands using the in-game console:
WorldRender.MotionBlurRadialBlurMax
WorldRender.MotionBlurQuality
WorldRender.MotionBlurMaxSampleCount
Now, I haven't tried any of them myself since I have motion blur disabled, but just type each of them into your in-game console and it will automatically tell you what type of values you can use! Good luck and please report back with your findings!
