Which race/origin/class combination had the most interesting content available to them in your opinion?
A poll for this: Link

Character will almost certainly be a male

Human Noble for me, suits better. Because there is Landsmeet ahead of you, and noble blends in better in this atmosphere imho.

Dalish Elf is nice too.

My all time fave is the female city elf rogue. But the elf mage and dwarf origins are fun as well. The dwarf commoner actually gets a sympathetic line from Morrigan!

The human noble is a little too cliched for my taste. The Dalish origin is too quick (as is the mage) but there is a nice tie in in the Witch Hunt DLC as well as heart break late in Origin. The advantage the mage origins have is raw power. The mage class is amazingly powerful. That being said, there isn't much to it story-wise. The human mage origin gets a shout out in DA2, but that doesn't really affect game play in DAO.

The dwarf commoner really is a rags to riches story, with a solid reason to back Bhelen. The dwarf noble origin is nicely twisty. If you play a woman, you can also have a moment of heart break early in the game. If you play a man, you can actually have progeny. They both provide good reasons to return to Orzammar and explore the city.

The city elf has heart break, anger, revenge and madness. You get excellent reasons to wipe out two Arls and a Teryn. You get Shianni. You actually get to rescue your father. What's not to love?

PS IMHO the most powerful team, not necessarily the most fun team, is a PC mage with Wynne, Morrigan and Shale. Played properly, even on Nightmare, that combination can defeat any foe in the game with relative ease. The quick explanation is the rapid and wide availability of spell combinations which are generally quite effective.

emmm... sword and shield warrior for me.

As for rogue - well melee rogue. Because in my experience two rogues, warrior and mage is the best party setup possible. Those hasted backstabs.

Rogue has more options avaliabe for him. Locked doors, chests, traps.

yeah my opinion is biased, because i don't like non humans.

Hm, tricky. If you're talking overall content and immersion, I'd have to say human noble. Your family is well known amongst the other Fereldan nobles, and there are plenty of occasions where this is mentioned in conversations. Also, nothing beats your personal feud with Arl Howe.

If we are talking origins, however, I'd have to say Dwarf commoner and female city Elf are the most enjoyable. Or rather, dramatic.

My favourite playthroughs, funnily enough, are still female human noble (rogue) & female human mage.

City elf female and dwarf commoner are my favorite origins. If I had to pick one favorite, I'd go with city elf because of her ties to Denerim.

Dwarf noble imho.  Nice -almost Borgia-like-  Origin story, you get to have children as a male and you get a best buddy that will give you a nice gameplay boost later on  and you're really personnaly involved in the Orzammar storyline. It's also the longest Origin story.

Very satisfying.

I've made a poll for this too: Link

I'll probably play as either a mage or a rogue archer. :)

I loved them all, but I think on the top of the list for me would be the Dalish elf (mage modded).

Followed by female human noble warrior.

Then female city elf rogue.

Dwarfs have good stories also. I enjoyed my commoner more than the noble.

The character I appreciate the most is a Human Mage, I played her even before they announce the Amell/Hawke relationship, and she is the Warden I import in DA2 (and my Hawke share her first name with my Warden's, since I thought it would be funny if we had to see both of them for God-knows-what in the game. Too bad the Inquisitor isn't of the Warden's family, it would be funny that three of the greatest characters in modern Thedas share some blood ^^) The fun point is I didn't knew much of the game when I started, and the first choice I made was a female Dalish rogue, which is the origin I appreciate the most.

In rough order of my favorites...

Mage -female

(Are you pro or anti Circle? - Flirting with Cullen. - Friendship or Duty?)

City Elf -female

(Rampage through the estate. - The King's face when you tell him what happened is priceless. - The troubles in the Elven Slum are personal.)

Dwarf Noble -male

(Kinslayer or Dupe? - Helping your child. - Blood or Honor?)

Human Noble -gender neutral

(Howe/Loghain becomes REALLY personal. - Landsmeet can end with you on the throne. - Barkspawn is actually yours.)

I just started a play human noble playthrough again and I must say they really do a fantastic job with the family. Everyone is so endearing and funny and its impressive how fast they can build up an attachment and make you feel something when they all get slaughtered

Agreed, which is one of the reasons that Human Noble isn't at the top of my list, the Nephew especially tugs at my heartstrings too hard.

Currently playing male human noble rogue archer :)

Next will probably be an elf mage with focus on lost magics and glory of his people. Arcane Warrior + Shapeshifter. He'll be against blood magic and generally well with the idea of the Circles.

And then it'll be my evil human female mage. Blood Mage + Shapeshifter/Spirit Healer (haven't decided yet) who hates the Circle and the Chantry. Morgana Amell :)

Female City Elf for me. You start off a despised minority who manages to get revenge on the people that ruined your wedding by kidnapping your bridesmaids and raping your cousin in a storm of blood, then prove your mettle to the world by joining the illustrious Grey Wardens and rising in power as the one person who can successfully stop Loghain and end the Blight.

The game opens with you born and raised in Denerim, the capital of Ferelden and the birthplace of Andraste, in which you slaughter your way through the Arl of Denerim's Estate to save your loved ones. After being away for a year and returning from nobody to nightmare, the game ends with you returning to Denerim, slaughtering your way through the Arl of Denerim's Estate again to save your queen, get revenge on the nobles that hurt your loved ones (Howe and Loghain), then storm your birth city to save the world from the Blight (during the Battle of Denerim). And, of course, walking into the Landsmeet as a city elf that used to scrub their floors but now stands above them all. <3

I also love the Female Elven Mage next.

Tossup for me between Male Human Noble Sword and Shield and female elf mage Arcane Warrior/Shapeshifter. I've tried human mages but it just isn't the same.

Male human Warrior with 2hander. I chose the preset name of Aedan Cousland. To be honest, I ALWAYS loved the politics, noble intrigues in Origins. Especially when Arl Eamon starts the Landsmeet.

Also tried the female human noble. Took the Rogue the second playthrough.

My favorite Warden is an elf mage (because I prefer playing mages and I like playing an elf). But my favorite origin is the City Elf. I also really liked the Dalatian origin, and the dwarf noble one. The human noble felt a bit too much cliché for me.

Human mage because its easier to relate with having no parents or friends like the other origins. Similar to being sent to boarding school. Places like these always have one guy who constantly talks to you-Jowan.

Human Noble Warrior for all the reasons already given in this thread. Though I could go for Human Noble Rogue as well.
