I would really like to know if their is a cap on the Prestige levels or at the very least find out at what point it's just not worth it anymore. For example, if your 1 stat point gain causes you to mitigate damage better by a small percentage at what point is it just not worth it? It stands to reason that you can't keep going until you have 100% mitigation.

BIOWARE, any information on this would be greatly appreciated.

I am curious as well. I've promoted 13 characters and wonder if I should ever stop. In theory, infinite points can be gained here, but I also wonder along with ya if there is a limit.

If it's like single player, then:

1 Constitution - 5hp (? not sure, maybe 10) at level 20, 0,5% melee damage reduction (after armor)

1 Willpower - 0,5% damage increase, 0,5% magic damage reduction (after resistances from skills)

1 Cunning - 0,5% crit chance, 0,5% ranged damage reduction (after armor)

I understand that but at a certain point you will either run into a prestige cap or the benefits would be lessened. Otherwise you could theoretically have 100% mitigation.

I saw 19 floating around here (19 per attribute - so a total of 57) which would result in a general 9,5% increase. I don't know if it's true, might very well be just a wild guess.

Much more interesting question is that we get attribute increases like in single player or not. Because right now on my single player character I have 100ish main stat+willpower. That's an 50% increase. Having 19 more stat would mean a roughly 6% damage increase - which is barely noticable (and absolutely doesn't worth the time it would need to grind out).

Are you sure 100 mitigation doesn't mean half damage? That's the setup a lot of systems use, where 100 is half, 200 is a third, 300 is a quarter, etc... Even though that's not what was used in previous games, it would make a degree of sense with this prestige system.

It seems like the stats are the same for SP and MP with a couple exceptions. This guide will give you all the details and have notes when MP doesn't follow the same rules as SP.

There's no diminishing return, eventually promotions will simply stop having any effect but it's not gradual. I'm pretty sure there are some hardcoded cap on stats in the game. I doubt you can get to 100% crit chance or 100% melee defense, but I've heard you could promote up to 50 times before hitting the ceiling so you've got some room. That would make sense, it would give a 25% increase in melee defense for example, but it's very time consuming to get there...

Ex: reaver ; prestege 5 = 5pts to constitution
After 5 it goes up 1 pt every 2 prestege levels so you get another pt at 7.

Not sure how it works after that.
