All Kreminals welcome here! :)

Thread Etiquette/Rules & Such

  • Be nice to one another!
  • Please don't misgender Krem or anyone else. The game clearly states that he's male, and we're keeping to that here. If you have a problem with that, please take it elsewhere.
  • Remember that not everyone has finished Dragon Age: Inquisition yet, and some here may have only just gotten it. If you plan on posting any spoilers, please keep them hidden!
  • If you have any fanart/fanfiction you'd like to share, don't be shy - let us see it! (Even better, PM me and I'll add a link to it on this post)
  • If you have any suggestions for this thread (or if I've done something stupid - I'm still learning how to use these forums, so it's bound to happen) let me know!
  • Um... stand on chairs?

Who is Krem?

If you've just stumbled across this thread, you may be asking yourself "Who is this Krem dude? I haven't seen him in any of my parties." Well, that's because he's an NPC, and a particularly cool one at that. Cremisius "Krem" Aclassi is that rather dashing mercenary at the top of the page (minus the hat; I honestly don't know if they even wear trilbies in Thedas), best known as the second-in-command of the Bull's Chargers. He's the guy who gives you the mission to recruit The Iron Bull near the beginning of the game, and afterwards he can be found giving out war table missions and anecdotes. He also happens to be possibly the first positive and well-written trans character in a major game (or at least one of the first) which only adds to his general coolness.

(He still hasn't figured out how to use chairs properly just yet, but we forgive him for that.)

An interesting Bioware blog post about Krem!

A Kotaku article about Krem

Now PCGamesN have gotten in on the act!

Please don't bring this argument into this thread.  Krem is considered a man in the game.  He identifies as a man and Iron Bull considers him a man.  There are transpeople in this thread who just want to enjoy a trans character without having their gender identity attacked and/or questioned.  Bringing this argument into the thread will not do anything but cause heated discussion that will just get the thread locked.  And, also, inevitably cause trans members of our community to feel uncomfortable.

This.

Krem identifies as a man and as part and parcel of being supportive towards transgendered individuals, respect these views please.  If you disagree with this perspective please abstain from the thread going further down this discussion.

I'm sympathetic towards people having missteps (I have my share) but I'd really prefer this thread not get derailed down this path.

I did some quick googling (as much for my own perspective) and was able to find more information on the topics here:

http://www.glaad.org...nsgender/allies

Now I vote we talk about Krem going forward.  Thank you.

Krem's chair antics have become one of my favourite things in the game now.  I think this thread is partially to blame :)

Maybe I should name my first female Inquisitor Annie...

I'd have to petition for a combat bark to be "Are you okay!?" when the Inquisitor takes a lot of damage! :D

Tidied up the thread, including removing references to deleted posts with one exception: I kept TurtleTape's response because I personally feel that there's value added for a person to share their personal experiences with why this is a serious issue for themselves.

d4eaming, thank you for sharing your thoughts on everything.  I find it very valuable for my own learnings and I hope it's helpful for yourself to be as open as well.

Krem didn't blip my radar at all.  Possibly because of just immense inexperience.  Was floored when it came to be!

I appreciate that BioWare takes chances like these, but never know if we're going to have a hit or a miss.  I'm glad that, at least for a decent number of people, it's something that works for them!

Cheers! :)
