It would be nice if there were more trans people in the media, especially guys. And he's a strong, independent mercenary who don't need no chair!

The Krem thing, at least, isn't Orlesian. idk what you mean about "force it down" though.

There are a few links in the OP, which I think includes most, if not all, that's in the thread. I do wish there was more, though. I neeeeeed more Krem!

There's more same sex relationships in the game then opposite.  Least that's what I've noticed. Maybe it's an orlesian thing, more common.  (Either that or the writers deliberately majorly represented them)  Eh. I'll call it an Orlesian thing.

I'm sad there's not more art.   :crying:

Um....what? Not only does this have nothing to do with Krem, it isn't true. There are(with the Inquisitor as the first label) two M/M romance possibilities, and two F/F romance possibilities. While there are four F/M romance possibilities and two M/F possibilities. Even if you include NPC relationships it isn't true. Give me a break.

Please don't bring the whole romance ratio argument into this thread. Krem isn't even a romance, so it has absolutely no place here.

Lol. Twas just a comment to one of yours and you asked me to explain.  It was relevant at the time.

Are you kidding me? You said Krem was forcing something (which he isn't), and when I asked for clarification you brought in same sex relationships being dominant (which they aren't). And then you just decided not to respond. Ugh, I shouldn't have even shared my fanfic if it would bring such comments.

O.o What? I said nothing about Krem forcing anything. . . I think you're getting confused and upset for no reason, I have nothing against Krem or gay people.  That would be hating myself. And Pfft, that's never happening.

You mentioned surprise they added a Trans character and I only said (As relevance) if it was just an Orlesian thing, them being more accepting of same sex couples, or the writers but "controversial" characters in to show all sides. And for how much gay content is in the game, ya, that's a little more than "normal."  And with Orlesian's being well Orlesian's I'm guessing it's just their own quirk.

That's beautifully drawn! :) And it reminds me a lot of how Bull and Krem act together in the game; their shield-bash practice looks almost like play-fighting, making it seem like Bull sees Krem as a younger brother. Mind if I add it to the OP?

I'm admittedly not sure how many of any kind of relationship there are in this game (I have terrible memory) but I do know that when it comes to representation of different sexualities and gender identities in games and other areas of the entertainment industry, there can never be too much. :) Anyway, this thread needs more Krem love! I was thinking about what a potential DLC would be like earlier, and I'd personally love to see the Chargers in a pirate setting. Thoughts?

Can you imagine Bull holding onto a rope while standing on the railing, sorta leaning over the water? We could meet up with Isabella. Krem up top with a telescope scouting out the shore...

Anyone else catch the banter between Iron Bull and Cole about Krem?

There's Cole being his full on spirit self, seeing past the faces, past surface and immediately sensing the real person underneath with all their pains and fears exposed.

Krem being no different, Cole describes his hurt just as openly as he does everyone else.

But Cole still uses "Him" when talking about Krem.

Even Bull is somewhat surprised when he mentioned that. Cole is genuinely confused by this, and asks if that was wrong for some reason. You can feel the smile on Bull's face as he assures Cole that he got it right.

D'AAWWWW! I couldn't help it, that was such a cute, beautiful moment. I nearly died from how sweet it all was.

I'm running my elf mage play through who will be romancing Iron Bull; after this I fully intend to have those two in my party as much as possible.

Ohh, yes, Isabella and the Chargers would be such a perfect team! I was actually daydreaming about what the trailer for any Chargers DLC would be like, and all I could think of was the Chargers getting into a bar fight at a dock, with Krem and Isabella teaming up and having to rescue each other from flying chairs every few seconds. ("Duck!" *smash* "Thanks, that was a- duck!!" *smash* "Tha- DUCK!" *smash*) Oh, before I forget, could I please add that last fic of yours to the OP? :)

I love that banter! I keep Cole in my party as much as possible, he's just so talkative. Here's the banter:

"But it doesn't hurt him anymore. You make it better." Don't mind me...I'm just finishing up this box of kleenex.

Then Isabella and the Iron Bull bang, and Krem stands on a chair drinking. And go ahead, anything I post you can feel free to add.

I know there are separate forums for international users, but as this seems to be the main Krem thread here I thought that it might be useful to include a couple of Krem-related article links in other languages in the OP. :) So Spanish- and German-speaking gamers, there'll be a couple of articles for you to read on the OP in a moment!

They could be having a "who's taller" contest... That reminds me, I started my second playthrough yesterday and after getting so used to seeing Krem either standing or sitting on that chair, it felt so weird to see him standing at his normal height. I almost forgot to speak to him, I was so busy lining my Elfquisitor up next to him for a height comparison! (She's about shoulder height to him. :) )

This.

Krem identifies as a man and as part and parcel of being supportive towards transgendered individuals, respect these views please.  If you disagree with this perspective please abstain from the thread going further down this discussion.

I'm sympathetic towards people having missteps (I have my share) but I'd really prefer this thread not get derailed down this path.

I did some quick googling (as much for my own perspective) and was able to find more information on the topics here:

http://www.glaad.org...gender/trans101

http://www.glaad.org...nsgender/allies

Now I vote we talk about Krem going forward.  Thank you.

Please, let's not talk about politics in this thread.

Also, here are two political articles so you learn the correct politics to post in this thread. Please read them, agree with them, and don't talk about them.

If you don't want politics in the thread, maybe lead by example?

It blew my mind when I found out that Jennifer Hale voices him.

I had no idea she was that damn versatile, lol.

HORNS UP!!!

I think I'm one of the only folks in the thread that knew that Krem was FTM by the first big chance at conversation with him at Haven.

I didn't know that there was going to be a FTM transgender character at all in the game.  With Krem, I guess I could tell right away.  He reminded of some of the transgender folks that I've met in the LGBT community here in Denver.  I knew he wasn't born a man by our second conversation, and I was instantly thrilled.  I was thinking, "Wow, BioWare did it.  A person that's FTM transgender that's kick a**.  So rare to see anywhere.  They did such a good job too.  This character is amazing."

I did flinch a little bit at some of the "passing" comments as well.  It just seemed too harshly put for my character.  She's ex-Carta, but prefers to be more tactful than that.  As a bi/pansexual player, that was rather uncomfortable.

I found Iron Bull's direct statements about Krem being a man a little endearing.  In my mind, the rather aggressive tone that Bull takes towards some of the questions made sense.  Bull's probably had to spend years sternly correcting people if/when they found out that Krem wasn't born as the gender he knew himself to be.  Bull's still Qunari and they are very blunt as a whole, especially to their closest friends and allies. I thought that was a good way to remind the player of this.  He reminded me of Sten in that moment, in a very positive way.

I did not know that was Jennifer Hale doing the voice.  Just when I thought my respect couldn't go any higher for the woman, she does this amazing character.  I can understand (as much as a cis-gender person can,) why some were disappointed that a transgender actor didn't do the voice.  That would have been awesome to see.

I vote for Harding (rogue), Mae (mage) and Krem (warrior) as companions for the next Dragon Age game.  Not only do I think all of those characters rock, but there's a balanced party right there.   :D

Oh and Krem will never ever be chosen over the Qunari in any playthrough.  I can always find other allies, other ways to build my army.  There is only one Krem.

I had my suspicions about Krem the first time I met him.  The narrative clues are there.  In any case, I absolutely love him to bits.  I always side with the Chargers because of him.  I'd love to see him become a companion in the next game.

Edit:  I think one of the reasons I suspected Krem was trans is that I also have a very deep voice, for a woman.

A couple days ago I was playing and went to talk to him, and caught him in the middle of getting up on the chair. So it was a bit of an awkward conversation as he stood there with one foot on the seat of the chair and one on the ground. I could just feel his thoughts "crap. just act natural...maybe the Inquisitor hasn't noticed...should I lower my foot? Should I ease up onto the chair? Why is he still talking to me? Crap."

I say it every time it's brought up, but the way Iron Bull is so protective over Krem gives me fuzzies every time I think about it. I will forever and always choose the Chargers over the Qunari. It makes Bull happy and we get to keep awesome characters. I just wish we could interact with all of them.

I'm personally not disappointed at all that they didn't use a trans actor. Hale did a wonderful job, and Krem doesn't have access to HRT, so his voice wouldn't be in cis male range, anyway.
