Really? That woman never fails to amaze me. Great work.
Hey, you. ![]()
Yeah, Jennifer Hale is incredible. There's a good bunch of people who are upset that Krem wasn't voiced by a transexual, but... man. She's such a good, inclusive, open, warm-hearted ally. If a female needed to voice the role, she's perfection.

Oh no. Come on guys don't make this thread be locked over stupidity. Just drop it and bask in the love of Krem!!
*looks for flirt option* Maybe...maybe he can be in the next game...and then I can flirt with him.

Krem. I love the Chargers in general. I don't know if I'll ever be able to let them die. Dx

I loved Krem, and the interaction he had with IB. Kept wishing Krem was the companion instead of IB. I was all like, I wanna be a Charger too! Screw being Inquisitor!
Sorry IB, I kept the Chargers alive, and will likely remain so in most playthroughs. It's Tal-vashothdom for you.
Matter of fact, cool/weird(I'm not a Mage!) rag-tag bunch of getter-doners vs. a ship of horned giants I've never even seen? Rag-tag bunch all the way.
And Jennifer Hale VA'd him? Never would have guessed.

Hmmm... Best as I can tell from her tweets, Robyn Addison is straight... Indira Varma is a of Indian/Swiss descent not black... It's just voice actors playing roles, after all. I'd have though that the important thing would be that the character is there and sympathetically portrayed. And he is. ![]()

That was slightly irritating.
o.o that said...if it had gone anywhere it likely would have caused major issues.

His response to my Qunari Inquisitor:
"Look, you and I have to walk carefully so we don't break the furniture or the elves. We're probably not the best people to go around deciding what's normal."
Pure win.
omg Bull says that or Krem?!
That cracks me up because I'm playing an elf romancing Bull... ahahaha my gentle giant boyfriend ![]()
Btw did anyone else not click any of the "Are you a girl or a boy?" type questions? My inquisitor's mama taught him better manners than that, Creators!!

Yeah, I was fortunately playing a "knight in shining armor" type of Inquisitor the first go around, so that was an easy decision for me. The next one will be a no-brainer as well since my Inquisitor's going to be Bull's boo.
My 'make the hard decisions for the greater good' dwarf gal, though? Krem isn't seeing the end of that playthrough. And it will be sad because the Chargers are incredibly likeable group. They remind me of Hawke's group: a rag-tag group of unlikely heroes from different races and backgrounds under the leadership of a charming jerk.
Ouch - yeah, I've tried playing it ruthless on occasion, but since I'm really a giant marshmallow when it comes to my companions...it usually works out with me going, "Noooooooo, I can't let you diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie!!!" Umm, I did behead that one guy, though - but he really had it coming to him (he tried to kill me AND was an insufferable jerk after the fact, so that helped).

I've beheaded two folks so far, and let me tell you, if you wanna good laugh, just watch a skinny elf in pajamas heft a bastard sword and lop someone's head off ![]()

It probably would be even more strange to a Dalish elf truth be told.
They encourage genetic diversity, breeding and are the only people outside of the Qunari that try to harness specific genetic traits. (Magic is the only one i have heard of them actively trying for and yes i know Gaider it wasn't a genetic trait, but that doesn't stop people in Thedas from trying to breed it)
So having in what the Dalish's eyes would be a "woman" acting as if they were a "man" would likely being extremely confusing.
Because that line of reason would be alien to them; if such people exist among the Dalish...well, they kill off extra mages because they are a danger and drain on resources, i wonder what they do to folks who won't conform to their society...
Damn...this thread went in a very dark place when i started applying some thought to this.

Bull says that, it seems like he says something different depending on your class/race.
On my first playthrough I asked a few of the questions, just because I wanted to see how they were handled. It was very validating to have some of the ignorant sounding phrasing shot down by the protective Iron Bull and the sure-of-himself Krem. I think I'll mostly avoid the potentially troublesome ones in future playthroughs, though.

I was a human mage and for me he said "you can shoot fire out of your ass!" I chuckled. I was kinda hesitant to click on those dialogue choices but was too curious in the end, lol. I love how protective he is over him.

I was wondering where Jennifer Hale would be (ever since Mass Effect, I've looked forward to hearing her wherever she appears next) and she did a brilliant job portraying Krem!
As for romance, maybe that's another reason they should release a Krem-centric DLC mission. Either way, I'd love it if they did, as he seems like a great character with a lot of potential within the franchise (I'd love to know more about his Tevinter background!)

I adore the discussion with Krem about his thoughts behind being trans. Where he says "Every day I would put on a dress, look in the mirror, and just hate myself." It was just a really powerful discussion.

DEFINITELY.
And like I said, Krem is so nuanced. He was written brilliantly. Do we know who wrote him at this point? I want to send them a dang fruit basket.

What about when he says his dad would let him pretend to shave? That was wonderful.

Yeaaaah, that's where my tears started. I think anyone who has ever lived in an unnatural state can sympathize with that. That entire discussion was so heartbreakingly beautiful. It lead to this weird, awkward moment in which a video game character felt so astonishingly human...

My first inquisitor (a qunari) asked the first question, but then avoided the rest of those because he's an open-minded guy and Bull pretty much laid it out for him. No reason to continue questioning.
Glad to see that when the thread went bad, it was quickly responded to. I missed the whole thing because I was in a meeting. Glad to come back to a chill and fun thread!

I had just gotten a call on the 18th that I was going to get to start hormones, so yeah, there was like a weird squee-almost-cry thing going on in my living room during Kremtalk. Darn Bioware, playing with emotions like this.
