Krem's awesome, and I applaud Bioware for putting a trans character in the game.
But he just won't talk to my Inquisitor! I've read about this really awesome conversation you can have where the Inquisitor asks him about his past and how his parents reacted to his situation, but I never get the option to initiate a dialogue when I speak to him, even though I'm friendly with Iron Bull and I don't think I've ever said anything to offend. Could this just be a bug?

 

It took me a long time before Krem gave me dialogue. It wasn't until after we all drank together.

Sadly, he is dead in my current playthrough. My first Inquisitor turned out to be a ruthless get-the-job-done the-mission-comes-first kind of girl, and don't let her sweet looks fool you - the things she does sometimes, I don't even... So of course she sacrificed the Chargers, without hesitation at that. I really miss them now

Eh, honestly I couldn't get into Iron Bull's crew. Kerm is nice, and such, and she makes me laugh every now and with a with a comment aimed at Bull. But the whole dynamic of Bull's crew seem just a tad over done. The whole Bad ass group of misfits from different backgrounds and such. It feels like if Hawke's crew, and the Warden's crew crossed paths. Sure the idea seems to be awesome and would have plenty of room for for both interesting and hysterical party banter, but really I just think that specific dynamic seemed a bit over done. So while Bull's crew was fine, I had to let them go. Sure Bull is sad, and so am I because I cringe at the thought helping the Qunari in any way shape or form. Heck I only took Bull because I felt I could be a better understanding of the Qun in greater detail rather than what Tallis, and Sten could offer me.

Krem is great, I love his banter with Iron Bull, like the remark on Bull's pecs:  "Maybe we could find a bigger strap on for your chest muscles, I'm sure I could help you with that" made me chuckle.

 

Being trans* myself - male to female in the process of transition, I'll have been on HRT eight months on the 19th of this month - then when Krem said this - "Every day I would put on a dress, look in the mirror, and just hate myself." - I related but from a female view because for me seeing a male looking back at me in the mirror every day is really painful and I hate what I see when I look in the mirror, I hate the body I was born with and ache so strongly to be fully female physically instead of being trapped in this birth defect of a male shell.

A huge kudos to Bioware for having the first ever trans* character in a video game who is portrayed as a person and written with respect and understanding.  Thank you, Bioware, this is what gaming needs instead of the tiresome hatred that is so common place in so many games.

I loved Krem! Great character & I love his rapport with Bull. (And how did I not know Jennifer Hale was his voice actor???)

I kept going up to him after each mission hoping he would have more dialogue.   ._.

If I was the one picking, I'd make him the side character that would become a companion next game. Sadly however, it'll probably never happen, since he's possibly dead, but one can dream!

I'm hoping that we get Scout Harding as the 'returning character turned companion'.  But, that being said, I have my heart set on a different fantastic lady to also be a companion, especially if we end in Tevinter.  Granted she's not Krem, but she another trans Tevinter character.

Please don't bring this argument into this thread.  Krem is considered a man in the game.  He identifies as a man and Iron Bull considers him a man.  There are transpeople in this thread who just want to enjoy a trans character without having their gender identity attacked and/or questioned.  Bringing this argument into the thread will not do anything but cause heated discussion that will just get the thread locked.  And, also, inevitably cause trans members of our community to feel uncomfortable.

I'm sympathetic towards people having missteps (I have my share) but I'd really prefer this thread not get derailed down this path.
