So regarding Krem's possible death...

Do we actually see his body? If we don't see a body, I see no reason why there couldn't be an explanation later as to how he survived and why he was unable to find Bull after the fight. Maybe he was taken prisoner.

This. With Leliana she happened to die in the one place in the entirety of Origins where being resurrected makes the utmost sense without a single retcon, given the fact that the Temple of Sacred Ashes is sitting on top of a mountain of pure lyrium. In the prologue level of Inquisition you can even see what is probably the depleted spires of it sticking everywhere out of the ground around the breach's focal point and on the way up the path. With Krem it'd be a bit harder, but if you don't see a body or check for a pulse it's not hard to believe he could have been brought back - and Bull's little Qun buddy would have no reason to tell Bull either if Krem WAS alive since it was clear that the Chargers left Bull conflicted about his role in that society. I don't remember Bull checking their bodies themselves, but I nope'd out of that option so fast I probably missed it if it was there.

 

Also, I have the biggest crush on Krem... I want him and Harding back for either the DLC or the next game so much it physically hurts.

Yeah, I do silly things like that sometimes. 

 

Krem is great, I love his banter with Iron Bull, like the remark on Bull's pecs:  "Maybe we could find a bigger strap on for your chest muscles, I'm sure I could help you with that" made me chuckle.

 

Being trans* myself - male to female in the process of transition, I'll have been on HRT eight months on the 19th of this month - then when Krem said this - "Every day I would put on a dress, look in the mirror, and just hate myself." - I related but from a female view because for me seeing a male looking back at me in the mirror every day is really painful and I hate what I see when I look in the mirror, I hate the body I was born with and ache so strongly to be fully female physically instead of being trapped in this birth defect of a male shell.

A huge kudos to Bioware for having the first ever trans* character in a video game who is portrayed as a person and written with respect and understanding.  Thank you, Bioware, this is what gaming needs instead of the tiresome hatred that is so common place in so many games.

I am glad they had a non offensive way of asking about him because at first I didn't say anything but then felt like an ass for just ignoring him after talking to the rest of the charges. So I just asked when he knew so glad that didn't end up badly lol.

That was the one thing that almost made me change my mind. Almost. I still doubt I could bring myself to kill off the Chargers, though. Maybe one day I'll do a playthrough where I do that just to see what happens when I make the opposite choices to what I've done this time, but most of the time I imagine I'll be saving Krem and his mates. Bull will just have to deal with having a depressing card from now on!

Do we know who wrote Krem?  I would hazard that it might be Patrick Weekes, since Krem is part of Bull's storyline and Patrick wrote Bull.  But I'm not sure.

 

Whoever it was, s/he did a great job with Krem.  The anecdote about him pretending to shave with his father was such a nice detail.  This kind of character is exactly what I've seen people asking for:  a transman whose gender identity is addressed in a clear way (so it can't be "Well, she might be a she because it was never confirmed in game....."), but also not the most important part of his character.  He's a ball-busting, hardcore mercenary and Bull's trusted number 2.  That's who Krem is.  The fact that he is a transman is just another aspect of the character that gets addressed in a few lines and then moved past.

He is a badass. I would pick him and the Chargers over the Qunari any day. A communists or a lovable collection of rogues, misfits and ne'er do wells? Chargers without a doubt. Mainly 'cause I hate how Qunari treat mages.

Yeah, plus it's a fantasy world, with its own set of rules and views. For all we know, Thedas could be in general pretty chill about this kind of thing. They don't seem to generally mind about sexual minorities. Wasn't it this game where we got a "sexuality in Thedas" codex? Maybe next time we'll get a "gender in Thedas" one.

Hey, maybe that's how things go on 'Vinter. They're different. They stand on chairs, lay on tables, do cartwheels in bed. Whatevs. Don't judge.  Krem do what Krem do!

I'm sympathetic towards people having missteps (I have my share) but I'd really prefer this thread not get derailed down this path.

YES!  I would love a DLC where you either control your Inquisitor (or maybe control Bull) and take the rest of the Chargers with you.  Maybe it could be a short series of quests  where you could pick different combinations of Chargers to come with you?  That would be boss.  Then Krem could tank for us!
