You know, I happen to agree. I think popular media tends to alienate all trans people, but trans males are left out the most. I think the fact that Krem is a man has far more impact than the other way around. Personally (and mind you - I'm not trans, so my opinion is just that) I feel that Krem is now the second accurate trans portrayal that BioWare has made. Mae counts. Good lord, does she count. Had they decided to have a trans woman in this game, the complaint would probably be "Well, why can't they do a trans man!" It would be interesting to find out how Patrick made that decision (just because I'm a curious little info anteater), but I have to wrinkle my nose at the idea that a trans man shouldn't have been done.
Krem is perfection.
While of course I would have been glad to see a trans woman character, I'll admit that my second thought after "ooo a trans character, that's so cool!" would have been "*sigh* of course it's a girl".

In today's blog post, @PatrickWeekes talks about writing Cremisius Aclassi, Iron Bull's 2nd in command http://blog.bioware.com/?p=7812 #DAI
A good read, I'm glad he got people in the community to look things over. However, it's a little odd he keeps saying "genderqueer community" when Krem seems to be a binary trans character, and genderqueer falls under the transgender umbrella, not the other way around.
Also, lol, the picture is Krem standing on the chair.
I would have burst into ugly tears if I realized we could play as a trans character.
Oh yeah. Definitely. I actually made my female elf have masculine features and boyish hair. In my head she's at least a little GQ, lol.
