I have 2 male elves and I love them to pieces (even when their arms are glued to their sides).
here's Adan
and Bellamy
Wow, he's really cute. ![]()

I just have to say, looking at some people's screenshots in this thread I suddenly feel entirely inferior playing this on the PS3 XD The difference in graphics is like wow. But alas, I have no other options.
I've got a male elf warrior on Inquisition I think looks pretty good, but I'm currently sitting in character creation for a male elven mage and just can't find a hairstyle I like other than the same one I have on my warrior. It is very saddening.
I think the problem with people trying to make 'masculine' elves is due to the fact that they aren't quite analyzing what makes a more 'masculine' face (or aren't really going for the stereotypical 'manly' face). Generally, what defines a more 'masculine' facial structure is:
- A strong jawline (Larger, generally longer)
- Sharper features
- Thinner lips (than females, anyways)
- A pronounced Adam's apple
Usually this means the head looks a little bit more boxy than a female's would. Jawbones poke out from the side of the face, there's more 'bumpiness' when it comes to the silhouette, and the neck is either the same width or larger than the head's width. Generally speaking, a lot of this is a lot harder to achieve on a male elf with the presets and how extreme (or not) you can make the settings because male elves were meant to look a little bit more fair and androgynous compared to males of other races in relation to females.
That, and I also blame not being able to alter the body shaping/neck musculature... and the hair doesn't help.
However, I digress.
Also, I'll edit soon w/ pictures of own 'manly' elf, Mar'tanis (sort of running late for things atm
)
@RNDMstuff Thank you! He is my favorite because I modeled him after Bob Morley from The 100.
@jibana I think so too! Thank you ![]()
Sorry about two-parting the post - I have some pictures of both my more 'manly' Lavellan guys back from CC. For those trying to make a more distinctly masculine elf, it's important to keep in mind that they will look a lot more like pointy-eared humans with lithe bodies than anything else. (But, of course, if that's what you'd like, then that's fine! To each their own)
Here's a picture of Mar'tanis, my first archer, back before I had to delete him for more room. He's a little more on the 'manly' side as far as male elves go, but not overly so.
Wow, there are some great creations in this thread. This is my current elf rogue Revias.

Considering how much time the dalish spend outside I went with a darker skin tone and some bright green/yellow eyes to make him look a bit fade touched.

IDK, my CC goal is to make someone who looks like Mahariel from DAO poster and damn he looks manlier than most elven male characters.
Here's my Lath Lavellan. He looks a bit young , but I got used to it.
I can't really find a skin complexion I like for male elves.(well there's one I like but lots of small red veins all over the cheeks :s.So freckles it is.)
This is my first (and last) Inquisitor...
...in armor he looks quite good (in PJ's not so..)
Very nice. I originally veered from that hairstyle but your Lavellan makes it work. And his eyes are striking.
This is going to be my third inquisitor hopefully. I'm still a little unsure about his eyes, I opted for no make up but I think the eyelashes look strange because of it.

Over 50+ times I tried to make a male elf which would fit into my mental image. And I ended up playing a female elf. )) But now, a million attempts later, I think, I have succeeded. Surprisingly, one of the most "feminine" hairstyle suits him perfect and does not make a girl of him at all.
Tamrien Lavellan.

Thank you to everyone for all the likes on my androgynous he-elf, Gilthanas!
I thought I would post a couple more pictures of him now that I have some proper screen shots (and since he's actually using some expressions in these shots, rather than the blank-faced CC one)

Oh, I like his expression on the second screenshot. )))
Someone just needs to come out with a Fenris CC slider. Because I've all but given up on making a good looking male elf.
Not bad! It's tricky because you have to translate it to the new engine, everyone looks different than they used to. It would help though if we could have darker eyebrows with lighter hair... And the proper shape to make him look naturally pissed off.Oh, good idea!
I've tried to create Fenris too. ))
My first attempt:
I need more practice...

Here's my Lavellan. I didn't go in with any plans for him aside from his eye color and his scars and I started from the first preset.
Spoiler
Decided to do (another) Dalish mage run. So now I have Sulehn Lavellan, sarcastic pro-Dalish romancing Dorian.
Originally he was based off of my rogue Lavellan, but I ended up giving him the DA2 style nose bridge and tweaking until I was happy. I also changed the ear position so they stopped clipping through his hair which was bugging me whenever I saw it in a cut scene on my other elf.

Well. I am accepting of any and all elves. I'm not comparing androgynous to masculine, because everything is subjective after all. ![]()
Here are some of my favorite screenshots of my Lavellan.
