Check the Mass Effect 2 config utility. Make sure it's set to the right kind of sound device on your system. For instance I was having the same problem only it turned out my comp audio was set on 7.1 surround instead of the desktop stereo speakers I have so the utility set my sound up for that.

having the same issue with voices being very low. The config utility didn't help at all. Everything is set to where it should be but still I have to crank my volume to the max to hear what people are saying.

Hi Ph3nom88 Ph3nom88

What can you tell me about your audio setup? What kind of motherboard and audio card? What OS version?

I am having these problems as well.

Using the onboard audio from the Asus P6T mother board.

I couldn't find a config file too look at the sound options to fix them like i had too for ME1 and the config utility is pretty much useless. There is absolutely no volume to the voices. Downloaded the game off of Steam. Game is pretty much unplayable at this point.

Just to be sure I wasn't totally unclear since it was rather late.

In the ME setup utility go down to the system list and click sound, then look for global settings: Speaker setup. My windows for whatever reason had decided I was on 7.1 surround instead of speakers. Once I changed that in the windows sound setup via the control panel and hit rescan system the voice volume issue resolved itself.
