I just beat the game without ever going there once.  From what I read online, the recommended level is 19-22 yet I just beat the last mission at level 19 on hard with it being a joke.

Also, I can't craft now that I beat the game?  All the stuff in the undercroft is gone.

...that is dumb.  What the what, Bioware?

EDIT - especially since they mentioned dragons were largely considered to be "post game" content, how am I supposed to craft resistance gear now?  Derp.

I really don't understand why they even let us keep playing after the ending. They take away everything. You can't even talk to people around Skyhold anymore. Everyone just says hi and then closes dialogue.

Yeah they completely backtracked on the "You'll want to take down some baddies post game" theres no point in playing after the final mission better to do all the things before it and then go play MP.

Wait, you what mate? Also... there is no point to the hissing wastes. The most generous description I can give it is that it's an XP farm. Otherwise no interesting quests or lore to mention(even though they hint at something it turns out to be not much). And it's gigantic: a few places with loot in them and gigantic spaces of absolutely nothing in between. It's the worst chore I've ever played in a video game, and I played SWTOR..

It's a treasure trove of T3 dex and cunning crafting materials and there's a merchant there that sells great schematics. That's basically what I used it for.

Most of the maps are actually completely optional as far as I can tell. It's really cool that there is so much content that didn't even have to be there due to the main story being in specific maps. But yeah, good to know that the game is pretty limited after the main story finishes, I've been doing all the content/maps and I don't plan on leaving anything for post-game.

The Undercroft stuff is still there for me on Xbox One. Maybe you guys ran into a bug?

So I should go there to get schematics that I can't craft to fight enemies I don't need them against? hmmm

Is all the stuff still down there though?  I'm playing on Xbone

For those who have finished the game, go back to your saves and load the one marked "milestone" should be just before you did the last mission so you can just continue doing stuff with your smith and Dagna.

Hissing Wastes does seem a bit pointless but I love it, The tomb quest is definitely one of my favourite side quests in the entire game and the end fight against the dragon is also my favourite out of all the dragons. The game as a whole is so much more enjoyable when you accept that a lot of it is making your own adventure, really role playing.

I was thinking this today after beating the game for a second time....you can SO tell that this started off as being designed as an MMORPG, you would've thought they'd have re-designed more stuff when they decided that it was going to be a single player game.

Each unto their own, I still dig the game.

Seriously.  This is good to know now so I can put off completing the final missions.  Very odd; hope this is something considered for a patch.

Freeing the slaves and then hiring them as paid workers brings the feels.  Many feels.  Zone was worth it just for that.

At one point you get attacked by rage demons in a dwarven mini-thaig.  Cole remarks that "They were dwarves once.  They think they still are."  This is a pretty significant thing since regular races being turned into demons - not just possessed by turning into them - is without precedent in known lore.

Really. So the stuff about playing the game after the main story finishes was just given lip service. it was tacked on.

It's basically how all Bioware Games (since '09) end (aside from Mass Effect 3). It makes sense in DA2 and DA:O but not in DA:I

Dwarven Lore and the only map where using your mount is required because it's a big ass open desert.

114 hours and I completed everything before doing the last story mission.

Post game you'll be down one companion (possibly two depending who got Divine) so as long as you can cope without them do whatever you like.

Holy crap I forgot about the mounts. I never used them the entire time in game, cause it seemed stupid that your party would disappear and then reappear, it bugged me too much, but I definitely would have used the mounts in Hissing Wastes. It was just so much empty space in between POI's.

Hm... I play on the pc and in both games that I finished the main story I still have access to both Dagna and Harritt in the undercroft. Really does sound like a bug of some kind.

Didn't use them either. Still bought them all ...

The Hissing Wastes are stunningly beautiful, I can only recommend questing there.

Do the quest once to get decent dwarven lore and good loot, then in subsequent playthroughs just go there to grab the T3 schematics and kill the dragon. Emprise du Lion is far more visually interesting and has better crafting materials and drops (poor Snoufleurs, tho).
