Hi all, im curious, is it possible to make a sturdy, almost tanky rogue?
I love the rogue dw animations but i hate being so squishy. Is there a way for me to just stand here and take a beating or will i have to play the stealth game?

You'd need some of the best gear in the game to amp Melee Def and +HP. You could play Qunari DW for auto melee bonus, but if you're something else already I suppose you could find some great Heavy Armour Schematic, make it with Silverite to apply to Rogues.
Kill a lot of Dragons to get some of the best Ring and Belt drops and then you'd have to prep before big battles by using Rock Armour Elixir.
It isn't impossible, but it feels like a waste of gear that could be used on someone that's an actual tank and that can aggro a lot better.
Also, my friend's name is Aviva. So cool username.
In truth, you might as well play a Warrior since tanking isn't Rogue's strong suit.
And you'd probably have more fun too. A tank warrior would give you much more build variety - not to mention that their combo animations are more varied and fun to play with. Rogues just have this disappointing double stab for their basic combo.
Guard on Hit is good.
You'd also want two Barrier-casting Mages to buff you all the time.
Don't forget to add Parry and Evade skills, or at least Knockout Powder, combining with Stealth (and upgraded Flank Attack for 2nd Stealth) and you will die a lot harder. Relying on block & counter is quite reliable against non-boss melee units (for bosses, even 2H warriors aren't viable to tank against so forget about rogues).
Im not so much aiming to tank with my rogue as to more not die in two hits ^^
Would crafting heavy armor for a rogue help much?
I know warriors do get alot of +con with their skills.
If you're looking to face tank, go with Warrior as everyone above suggested.
If you're just looking to a hardier Rogue that isn't quite so squishy and doesn't have to play the steatlh game the whole time... defintiely doable and loads of fun.
I'm playing one right now. Qunari DW Rogue. Tempest specialization. As another poster also suggested, craft an item with +Guard on Hit. I'm also using crafted daggers with Heal on Kill. The combination is extremely effective and still puts up awesome damage numbers. Proper use of Tempest flasks will both devastate the battle field and protect your ass when you get aggro. I personally love the spec.
I'm not sure I'd call it a tank, but I deal a ton of damage in the field. Between my spinning blades attack (whatever that's called) and my throwing daggers attack (also, whatever that's called). I kill about twice as many enemies as my party.
I haven't tried it but I seriously doubt it. Sadly it's hard to make unconventional builds in this game when we aren't allowed control of our attributes. It's all about whether or not rogue's have any tanky abilities you can stack, gear might make a bit of difference but not enough.
Hi there,
I am playing assasin rogue on hard and had similiar issues around lvl 12.
What I did was speccing a bit more to stealh ("I was never here", "knife in the shadows") and getting myself right gear. As people said before guard on hit mastercraft is good way to go, especially when opening by Flanking attack (always with upgrade) and following with spinning blade (also upgraded). Make sure to get evade for signalled heavy attacks (2Hangers, Giants, Dragons, etc.).
I aslo got myslef a ring with 20%heal on kill. I do not appreciate any Constitution upgrades as you need 20 points to get 100 HP... not noticeable enough for me.
Aside from that some party micromanagement helps. Tank to taunt heavy enemies away from you and mage holding off a bit with barrier (yes I turned off autocasting for barriers, you can also set AI to defend your character).
Try to remember that you are best at back/flankstabbing
Appear and vanish, do not be affraid to retreat for a moment.
Hope this helps a bit.
EDIT:
Oh and yeah I found this, 1% of health per hit ![]()
Lady Jocasta's Revenge: Requires Level 12, 242 DPS, 94 Damage, +2 Cunning, +20% Flanking Damage Bonus, On Hit: Heal 1% of Maximum Health, Dagger (Exalted Plains Dragon)
I guess i just wish that Warriors could Dual Wield ^^

Or give Rogues a chance to dual wield more weapon types.
If not swords themselves than maybe scrimtars or short swords, anyhing more than daggers ... pls...
So in retrospect, would a rogue with heavy armor and +guard on hit ne equal to a warrior without shield or defensive passives?
Or im i just better off going with a warrior? :/
All about the deeps. If you don't mesh with the playstyle, why not try another class.

Probably go with warrior, as Duelist_76 said.
The thing with dedicating so much to Tank Rogue, is that you miss out on the Equipment that gives massive bonuses to Crit Damage/Crit Chance, or even Armor Penetration, which is where the Rogue excels. At higher levels, it might feel like kiting the enemy, which is far and away of how Warriors are in the game.
Why not try both? Even just start a Warrior and play the early game and see if its to your liking.
