and that they don't see why blacks and other minorities aren't represented but gays are.
Bioware has a history of poorly presenting non-Caucasians in their games?! Really?

You're answer: people are stupid.
Anything more is just overthinking it.

To me it depends on if the character is written in the game to be that way, or just something they tack on almost as an afterthought. The latter can very much come off as "pandering."

I've seen very little evidence of what the original poster said. However there have been some comments right or wrong about the overall representation of the number of minorities in a game vs those in real life which may have legs. Since I have no solid data on the actual % of the population or gaming population that gay vs straight vs other minorities I can't make a proper comment.

because its hilarious. Some threads are legit yes. I've watched troll threads blow up because of how vidya gamez are such serious business. And when you combine video games with who someone wants to sleep with in their personal life? OMG!!!!!
That said, to be fair there are a lot of people here that it literally seems their sexuality is their entire existence. Any sexual thread or romance thread or anything like that...there they are in the battle formation ready to take anyone who doesn't agree or like something that they do, but yet you hardly see them in other threads. W/e to each their own. There really are people like that here though.

But believe it or not, this is how any kind of publication works.
Tuna can, consumerist life, fascism, tolerance toward LGBT, Ban of something. They put them in an enjoyable (or sympathy-able) thing, program, media, atmosphere etc.
Oh I'm too sleepy to find the right words...

Because the dating sim crowd here has some bizarre requirement that there be a 1:1 ratio of straight to gay LIs and Bioware actually goes along with that sort of thinking. Anything else is "unfair" despite some 95% of the human population being heterosexual, so the numbers don't really add up.
A good portion of threads on these forums focus around who can be the biggest victim, and sometimes a Bioware dev/mod will post about how Bioware and the gaming industry need to pay more attention to these victims because fairness. And then people say how white straight males have privilege and thus their opinion is of minimal value, and then the cycle will repeat itself on a different thread.
Also according to some Bioware employees the gaming community is "toxic", because fairness, the old BSN was also toxic because of the social aspect, and toxicity is everywhere, because fairness.
And that one time EA was saying their critics are homophobes and basically used gay people as a shield.
And their implementation of almost every one of their gay characters might as well include a huge "Look this guy is gay! Look how progressive we are!" sign above their head. And when you don't care about either statement it is tiresome at best.
tl;dr version:
Everything is justified using this imaginary concept of fairness, not even the EPA talks about "toxicity" so much, and I'm a white straight male so discard this post.

I just wish BioWare would divorce their romances from fanservice and actually write them in a way that's not pandering to tumblr-level shippers. Whether they're gay or straight, BioWare is pandering to degenerates who merely see the game as a backdrop to 'Riding The Bull'. It's all the same.
But at this point, that kind of suggestion is as extremist as 'BioWare should have better quest design' and 'BioWare ought to focus on having good RPG gameplay'.

This. Criticizing Bioware for all the fanservice in there games is definitely a legitimate complaint.

"You're just a closet case! YOU STOOPID SEXY INTOLERANT XTIANS ARE DESTROYING TEH WORLD!!!!"
Ah, those type of YouTube comments make me laugh. They respond to bigotry with further bigotry.

I agree completely. This or get rid of romances altogether. Inquisition's romances are all on the level of cringe-worthy that I'm surprised we haven't filled the cringe thread on here with all the scenes from the romances.
I, like the others here, have no problem with gays or anything being in a game. They exist in the real world so I don't see the problem of having them in a fictional game world. My problem is with these romance fandoms that have now formed around Bioware games. Bioware is pandering to them which is why the main plot of Inquisition seems to have less attention than the romances (as noted by many reviewers). All that time and resources wasted on romances could have been spent to proper use making actual side quests of quality rather than the generic fetch/kill quests we ended up with but the "I WANNA RIDE THE BULL!" lot don't care. They got their romance which is what they admit to playing through the entire game for.
I mean Google any character from a DA game, go to images and you'll find entire erotica and "sexy" fan-art of them, even the non-romanceble characters. A lot of companions and their dialogue in Inquisition just felt like clear fan-service to these guys which is why I avoided most of them and went solo in my playthrough. I liked Inquisition but the companions themselves were intolerable.

Bioware has been doing this for a long time guys. Best get use to it. I'm all for the non fanservicy stories without wish fulfillment, and yet at the same time I don't necessarily feel its a bad thing either when done in moderation.
They've been doing it since it first appeared in Baldur's Gate 2 so I'm under no illusions about it, but BioWare has been getting progressively worse about it since Mass Effect 1. It really is annoying.

It's pretty much "I didn't get what I want so I'm going to blame someone else for getting something that I think they wanted because I should have got what I wanted."
It has nothing to do with gay or straight.
