Trust me, the part I'm talking about is very cringeworthy; simfam seems to know what I'm talking about. I won't subject you to it, though; nobody deserves that.

I was rooting for mah boi Sammy.

Until that fat, pink, mast slipped out.

Demographics of sexual orientation

No one has reliable statistics on the demographics of it, but it demonstrates significant bias to ignore 80% of the research and numbers in order to exclusively quote the precentages that are the lowest, and that were done using random voluntary surveys. Demographically driven research has placed the numbers higher than yours quoted, and in depth studies of population cross sections have placed the numbers higher still, at 15-18% and 33-36% respectively.

Even if you decide to go with an approximate mean (combining all the listed voluntary poll surveys on that page, the research surveys, and the Kinsey serveys) you would get 17%, or thereabouts.

But it's more fun to make stuff up so that it suits the point one is trying to make, which is what people seem to be doing.

And the nonsense agenda driven statistics start to appear. 33% of the population? It doesn't take an expert to realize how wrong that figure is. Even a basic understanding of biology should be enough to prove that wrong.

What next? The "everybody is actually bisexual" line I've heard before? Maybe move onto race so you can say how white people are an unnatural anomaly like tumblr basement dwellers?

This seems to be a new thing... inventing silly statistics about how rare the LGBT community is. This is the third time that I've seen it in the last few days. It's never the same percentage, of course (which is the most obvious tell that they're made up.)

Yeah, I totally made it up. I also hacked William's institute of Law and had them display my "made up silly statistic". Other stats from places like the CDC never vary more than the 2-5 percent range either.

Your claim that 1-3 out of 10 people being gay/bi outside of places like West Hollywood is downright laughable to say the least. Such is the nature of those with agendas I suppose. Hope you enjoyed a tasting of crow.

Just out of curiosity, does that chapter contain any important information about the storyline? If not I think I'm gonna skip it when I get to it. I've read enough of George's vomitous sex scenes just in the first three books.

It's a fantasy game so I can't really tell if they're or not pandering. But if Thedas homosexuality want to reflect real life homosexuality . Than yes. They're pandering.

A lot of people think that 10-20 % of the population is gay, but it actually much more less than this. More like one or two percent. So the fact that there's always so many LBGT character in my inner circle let me believe that they're.

I have read somewhere that Antiva culture make them all bisexual. I find this so ironic( I have read it somewhere on the board).  Because if homosexuality is not a choice. Than why they're making the choice to be all BI ?

Personally ? I think that they are pandering. I mean Sera, Josephine, Leliana, Iron Bull, Dorian. They even added a transsexual and he's the right hand of Iron bull. I am sorry if I may offend people because of how I am seeing thing. Also there's no homophobia in their game. So yes. It's bullshit. Because there's plenty of homophobia in the world. It's suck , but that reality.

Do I care  they are doing this ? No. Dorian is fun to romance. I don't care. I am just noticing. That it.

I don't doubt that the CDC or William's Institute report people who self-identify as LGBT range within 2-5%. But, the William's Institute report makes an interesting comment that highlights a nuanced difference between self-identity to reports of homosexual attraction or behavior:

The two US surveys and the Australian survey all suggest that adults are two to three times more likely to say that they are attracted to individuals of the same-sex or have had same-sex sexual experiences than they are to self-identify as LGB.

The same Williams Institute report notes that, except a 2010 Norwegian Living Conditions study, all other studies report a percentage of adults admitting to some kind of homosexual attraction or behavior over 5%. A 2006-2008 study for National Survey of Family Growth notes 11.0% for adults between ages 18-34.

It's also important to note that the data was collected from a self-reported survey, and you have to take into face value what people give you. And finally, there are men who have sex with men but do not identify themselves as LGB (MSM). Data on MSM is really lacking, and this Williams Institute report on MSM in the South shows models that may report results above 5%.

The better conclusion from both CDC and William's Institute reports is that 1-5% of people who will identify themselves as LGB. But, the actual numbers of people engaging in homosexual behavior may be higher or lower. Who knows? Homosexual self-identity is rare, but homosexual behavior is prevalent in all cultures and may be engaged by people who do not think they are gay.

I guess this also means, if you're going to tell someone to eat crow, you should know how to serve it first, Seboist.

I'm not trying to start an argument, I just wanted to know why people think that whenever a gay character is put in a game, it's "pandering" or that Bioware has an "agenda"? And then there's people who say gays want the attention or "the special treatment", and that they don't see why blacks and other minorities aren't represented but gays are. Why?

I think they implement it poorly so it comes of as preachy. Which is their right. They can preach all they want.
