I hit level 14 recently, and I'm reaching a point where I have to exclude some abilities when I map everything to the controller.  I play as a KE, but I like to mix things up.  I still do a lot of casting of elemental attacks like Winter Grasp, Immolate, and Chain Lightning.  I've been thinking about keeping Spirit Blade, Barrier, Fade Step and Fade Cloak on the primary layout, and then mapping the ranged casts to the secondary group, which is modified by my left trigger.

Has anyone had trouble deciding which skills to omit when you map everything?  At times I miss the old radial wheel for selecting skills which don't get a lot of use, but are handy in unique situations.

Is there any way to use that 9th skill that cannot be hotkeyed?

I hate keeping my focus skill as one of my 8 b/c I only use it for the few tough fights I can't slash my way through.

I'm getting more used to it. I know I won't be using Winters Grasp on Solas eventually but it'll be worth it to have the meditation stillness thing.

And it really doesn't bother me in Multiplayer anymore. Kind of wish the potion quick buttons had the option of putting abilities in them but whatever.

I wonder if you can pause during combat and re-map something?  I try to load up on passives when I can, and then only map the ones I use a lot, but options are nice too.

Yeah. Pause the battle and remap the keys. I know, annoying.

They should have just kept the radial wheel.

Most definitely. I'm baffled they didn't.

I can't help but wonder how difficult it would have been to use the existing mapping system for MP, but then incorporate the radial wheel into SP.  I'm not a designer, so I don't know the logistics behind using two systems, but it would have made more sense.

Then don't enable swapping in MP.

You can't even do this. Tactics and mapping are locked out during combat, at least on PS4.

Except in ME they managed to allow MP with limited slots and SP without. This wasn't MP or console or anything else that people keep saying hoping to make whatever their boogeyman is true. It was a design decision, period. Truthfully, I have hit 21 and have built in such a way that I can't use a handful of powers but I've made my choices for what needs to be in combat with me and what doesn't. I see it no differently than what armor I am wearing, what accessories I have and what runs are slapped on my weapons.
