I've had some friends telling me to play it like an Archer with Stealth, but others tell me to play it more close range. What do you Think?

personally never liked putting stealth on my archers. much better suited to dual wielding rogues.

with the largely rectangular rooms in multiplayer, even if you flank you'll still have to run a good distance back so they don't turn around and instapop you, and by then your teammates will either have killed them all got themselves killed

hunter's nothing like archer.  use elemental mine as your aoe skill and use stealth+full draw on single target.  that means you need to try you best to keep at full health.  if you could, stealth+full draw has a guaranteed 4000+ damage.

while as an archer i'd prefer long shot. it has a guaranteed 1500+ damage, but hits multiple targets

Crit on stealth with full draw let´s you play as a sniper, and try to get on the flank for that manouever, so with threatreduction passiv you can then start to tack out all the enemy archers.

For some AoE use Explosivarrow and personally i like the elemental mine (no upgrade or with upgrade) to set up a nice surprise at chokepoints or stop a stalker.

And after playing both an archer and a hunter twice i can tell it´s a whole different playstyle. You really need a decent bow for the sniper thing to work.

I just play mine as a high mobility survivalist.  I use the backwards leap shot, evade and the stock skill i think it's called backup plan?  Full draw or the aoe shot is my 4th spot I've used them both on different promotions.  It's a fair bit of auto attacking but has amazing survivability.

im stuck between playing him like my Alchemist or my Archer.

Either way amazing to play.

the stealth + fulldraw combo... instakill pretty much anything!

or the upclose, toxiccloud+leap away ability then elemental mines combo... mass aoe and pretty colours and explosions everywhere :'D

it really depends on your playstyle man.

My Build:

Explosive Shot: Amazing AoE when combined with Stealth. Easily does 1k+ per enemy. Also used for knockdowns for party member damage bonuses and escaping melee.

Full Draw: Hunter likely deals the highest DPS in DAMP with stealth and all the other passive damage bonuses. The highest I have done with this so far has been just over 8k. The high cost and cooldown time has made me question using this in my future builds though.

Stealth: If your not using this on your Hunter then you might as well go play an Archer... This is the skill that makes Hunters survival and DPS higher than Archer most of the time. 100% critical rate and a 50% bonus for damage is just to much to pass up.

Throwing Blades: I see so many people not using this skill even though it's the equivalent to Death Mark and even better in some aspects. On groups it does around 500 damage per enemy and on a single target it does around 3k... On top of the great damage it also sunders and has only 12 seconds of cooldown. (It also does not hurt to have a Bow that heals on hit since this hits 4 times)
