That's exactly what They want us to think! You're one Them, aren't you?! I can tell! Oh, yes, I can. You can't fool me!

Didn't all the devs have Illuminati avatars back on the old forum?

And the seat of the Gray Wardens power structure is in Weishaupt.....hmmmmm.

Bioware puts references to all kinds of fiction into their games. it's just fun stuff. Or they do it to troll the conspiracy theorists. That's fun, too.

@Aolbain:

Maybe, but if so, they had that for the same reason you would want it: because it's cool and connects to fascinating stories.

What I don't understand is why people are so down on anyone who believes in, or even takes interest in "Conspiracy Theories". It's not like the majority of those people wear tinfoil hats or lives alone in their own underground bunker to evade the impending nuclear fallout.

Most conspiracy theorists don't even step out of line when talking about these sorts of things, those who do (I.E. the "Wake up, Sheeple!") end up doing so because of all the negativity they receive when bringing up their views on things.

Why is it so crazy to think that the Government just might not want what's best for its people? They're a corporation like any other.

Why would we automatically assume that there's no merit to thinking the Pharmaceutical industry only wants more money and doesn't care if their merchandise is actually safe for people in the long term?

It seems to me that the world would benefit if a larger grouping of people were more skeptical of the people who, far above them, exert control over what goes into the food they can eat, what digital programs that are available for them to watch/play and what laws are being passed to dictate what a person can and cannot do without being punished.

Whether any of these people are connected to one another, laughing maniacally as they reign over the masses isn't relevant in the slightest.

Being skeptical shouldn't be frowned upon.

Ironically, I generally find that when party A speculates that party B is a conspiracy theorist, the typical reality is that party A is the conspiracy theorist.

Actually, it's exactly that which is relevant for the discussion. To assume that people are people and are often out for their own interest even if it's their job to work for the common good, that some corporations try to manipulate people, those are pretty safe assumptions and supported by a great deal of evidence as well. That it's all connected, there is no positive evidence for that. As a skeptic, I am naturally inclined to not believe it and find it odd how some people can believe that in complete absence of evidence. it's like religion. It's not impossible, but the fact that it could be true has no bearing at all on whether it actually is true.

There is the odd real example here and there. It would be blind to deny that. But still, an extraordinary claim like "it's all globally connected" needs a little more evidence than "I believe it".

And to think that the appearance of symbols connected to specific supposedly-secret organizations in a game must be somehow significant, that's outright ludicrous. Give me some evidence of such a connection, then I'll consider it.

Bioware or thier employee's really don't have to beleive in any of this consipricy theory stuff to use aspects of it in game. They might just think its fun to put easter eggs in.

You could look at it three ways.

1. They called it Weisshaupt because they are all Illuminati crazy.

2. They are really really into burners, heating and condensing systems, solar technology, heat pumps and building management systems. http://www.weishaupt...nuZahlenFakten/

3. They thought it was a cool name.

Indeed. Being skeptical is good. But I've yet to find a single consipiracy theorist who is actually skeptical. Sure, they distrust the "official" line, but then they blindly accept alternatives which, no matter how unlikely the official story might be, are far far less likely and completely devoid of any evidence in their favour. Be skeptical. But be skeptical of everything.

This thread is full of replies completely missing the point of the OP. But I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, as jumping on bandwagons is a feature of this community.

that doesn't make him wrong.  There very well may be people that work there that have an intense interest in those type of things...maybe they are practicing freemasons.  The whole "seekers of truth" fits into the whole spiel.  That could be the reasoning behind the choices made before dragon age even existed.  Or it could just be anything else under the sun.  Won't really know unless they say themselves.  And not everything is a symbol...its actually a pretty specific and short accepted list.

Even if people think its far fetched, it is possible.  Many people find that subject matter interesting even if they don't buy into all of it.  Either way we don't know.

The Seekers are one of the things they have borrowed from the Wheels of Time books, along with collaring mages and controlling them by a second object. They just changed the 'for' to 'of'.

And I just watched 'Angels & Demons' this week, too. No such thing as co-ink-a-dink, so it must be true....

If anything, Bioware writers and designers are tapping into the sources that modern conspiracy theorists use and mess up.  For example, the use of Owls as a symbol? Goes back to the use of the Owl as a symbol for Athens and Athena.  It was just a kind of easter egg that Alex Jones lept on and was like "llooook! The shadowy cabal of the illuminatis".

Plus, most of what is believed about the Illuminati in the modern consciousness can be traced back to the Iluminatus! trilogy of novels, can't it? And those books are just pale imitations of other, better writers.

Every thing is true. Unless it's a lie. Or ill-conceived. Or just plain wrong, it could just be wrong.

Alternatively, it's a play on the usage of owls in Harry Potter  :P

Because illuminati/Masonic symbols are all over this game. Cassandra's armor and shield, the quest map with the Pyramids marking your location, the owl statues all over the place, Sola's room thats painted with all seeing eyes everywhere, and Sun icons. If you're a mage even your some of your spells reflect the influence....Fire mine lays down a Pyramid and eye animation, energy barrage has a pyramid  animation....I mean do they even have real Pyramids in thedas? I just thought it was interesting.

Yeah, they are Illuminati and, there is subliminal messaging all over the game and, they hired me to make sure it's all correct and, sending the right message because I'm an immortal vampire and we all know who really leads the Illuminati. Oh and if you buy a word of that, I'll sell you the Brooklyn, Golden Gate, George Washington and London Bridge along with my ocean front property in Arizona. LOL  [for those that still don't get it, this post is a joke.]

Dude, just join the dots.  The Great Horned Owl is the provincial bird of Alberta.  Edmonton is in Alberta!  This conspiracy goes all the way to the top (of the provincial government of Alberta)!

This is where the gay agenda fits in too...

The reptilian overlords are implementing subliminal messages into these games to make people homosexual, thus, leading to population control and the eventual killing off of all civilization.

I have proof.
