One thing I've never understood is that Bioware refuses to make long hair because of animation issues/clipping issues. Okay, so you'd imagine their short hair is animated to **** and has zero clipping issues at all.

WRONG.

Clipping issues are still abundant (especially with elves/qunari), and it's not animated. I don't know about anyone else but I'd rather have long, decent styles that aren't animated/clips like hell than this ****. It aggrivates me so much because making a female character becomes x10 harder, and even Males are a struggle. I finally settled with the bob/shaved sides for my male Elf, and even though it clips and makes his forehead x10 bigger, it's just the best of a bad lot for me.

I refuse to make a female Quizzy again until mods come out, and if mods never come out then I'm afraid I doubt I'll make a female quizzy, which loses alot of replayability for me.

Is Frostbite 3 really hard to mod or Bioware is just scared that modders will create nude mod for DAI?

I want Saints row level of character customization in DAI..SR allows you to customize your body shape and size :D

I am getting increasingly annoyed with the stupid side burns. They destroy two of the already way too few acceptable female hair styles. And as if to mock me, the dwarf male of all people doesn't have them. Ughhh are you serious? I mean what's this:

Spoiler

And having three decent eyebrow options among fifty different unibrows was a bad idea too. Since eyebrows are only textures this isn't even about effort. I fail to understand the logic behind it.

I don't think Bioware scare about nude mod. The reason is in Cassandra love scene itself...

The bald patch is the reason I have trouble creating a new female character...that half shaved, half long is the only decent long hairstyle I like, and one of the most original of the horrors we get. I hate the other long styles, I can't stand them.

But the short are or too manly, boring, or a bad implemented pixie cut (that look even worse with lighter color).

really, there isn't a name for who choose those hair and thought where good on female characters?!?

I don't know who picks Bioware hair options. I never expected things to get worse when we got into next-gen.

Tell me about it.  -_-

I was hoping, with how great is the CC, the new engine, and the good artistic direction of the game, that we would have at least something like Dragon's Dogma hairstyles. that game give both male and female hairstyles for all, but there are so many that one doesn't have to rage every time at the hair slide. <_<

Thank goodness I'm not the only person irked by the hair options in this game.

Even Destiny has better hair options than this game does. I LOVE the cute active bun/hawk updo they offer for the Awoken. True, their hair is limited, but at least it has some GREAT styles mixed in with the lame ones.

Having everyone get the same gender hair options was a total cop-out in rushing the game.

It's almost like these hairstyles were put in as fillers with the intention of adding better styles before release and then they ran out of time.  I doubt that is so, but it's easy to imagine it...

This doesn't explain why we don't have more nice updos, braided or otherwise.

Also... male pattern baldness for female characters?

Yeah, I'm playing a dude until modders can fix this mess.

I've had the same thought. It really is that lame. Like initial/placeholder stuff.

People wondering why hair is so poor.  Consoles.  There is only so much memory they have to work with.  DA2 got a texture pack so hopefully DA:I will get one as well.

Hair is the same thing.  The more of it you have and the more complex it is (braids, length, styling etc) the more memory it takes up.  I don't think the issue is that Bioware doesn't have talented artists to craft hair.  It's far more likely that they simply left this dead last, it was a performance drain and ended up on the cutting room floor like so many other things.

Sadly the consoles won't go away so expect the same garbage in ME4 and any other future Bioware game.  It seems to be SOP.

IMO they could have saved everyone the headache and just made 3 hair styles per race/sex that are top notch and leave it at that.  It's what the Asian studios tend to do for console releases for the exact same reason.  Least we would get a half decent head of hair.

One title.

Dragon's Dogma.

61 hairstyles, if I remember correctly (I have the Dark Arisen version). And body slider for height, muscle, lenght of harms and legs. Oh, and body scars and tatoo, and even the chance to regulate the walking style.

Same can be said for Saint Row 4, I think, since I haven't played it.

Console: PlayStarion 3.

So this isn't true in any way.

Sweet I'm not the only one! The Character creation(arguably the most important part to many folks myself included) has always been Biowares week point, I've never been able to make a character that I was truly prowled of. That being said inquisiion has come the closest due to the graphics, but ya the Hairstyles are horrible, and the beard options are bland and boring, I'd love to have Blackwalls hair and beard for my character if nothing else. I just want to make a badass looking bearded dude.

It really is just a simple google search to get ideas :P I'd love to have Lagertha and Ragnars hair from the show vikings in the game. Guild Wars 2 has them :P GW 2 has some great hair options.

If it's the consoles' problem, then why do Sera, Cass, Cullen/Alistair look so much cooler? Their hair isn't intensive. It's just outright designed better. I expect the same thought put in PC hair to be like theirs. I'm on XOne. My companions look cool. It's my own character that looks goofy. Simply because of bad design and aesthetics.

I think the major problem is clipping issue (maybe with dlc-armor or feature armor) so the memory problem isn't the problem.

I don't know why Bioware always create puddletail hairstyle (Short Ponytail hairstyle) in their games.
It make my shepard, my warden, my champion, my inquisition look so stupid...
This hair is the best option to avoid clipping issue but as I said this short hair should put to the dog tail... :P

My croft look good with Ponytail but my inquisition is not...
Seriously...I bought this game at the first of December...And I don't even play it because of my **** look inquisition...
And this game is discount like **** at the last of December. 33 Percent !? WT*

That discount could buy a new game... Jesus...

Clipping? Some of it already clips! :( I don't want to believe they were lazy. I want to believe there is some sort of technical difficulty or at least a good reason for this. It's so hard to justify and understand.

Morrigan's hair and Blackwall's beard already clip. So, I don't see how a little minor clipping can be a problem on our character. Is not as if we don't have others options if we really can't stand it, or we can't "regulate" our character traits to lessen the clipping. I already have done it for the ears of my male elf.

If I have to choose between a little clipping sometimes, but a cute hairstyle, and no clipping an shaved hair marine-style...give me the clipping. I'm in a semi-medieval-fantasy setting. Not in Mass Effect. -_-

With the current standard of 3d video graphics I think clipping always will be an issue. It won't be fixed until there will a consequent collision physic of ... Everything. I would accept clipping of long hair 100 times than just having these hair styles.

I've paid real live ****** money for GW2 hair too, and I'd do the same for good DAI hair, though I suppose everyone else would lose their collective shits about it lol.

Ahem:

"As massive as Dragon Age: Inquisition already is, there were some things the team wanted to get in at launch, but we just ran out of time." - Scyllia Costa, Dragon Age Inquisition Producer

It's more likely than you think. >.>

The only upside is the things they wanted to get in before launch are suppose to start rolling out with Patch 3 and beyond. If the Gods are generous one of them will be hair ( and the others will be face codes and a storage chest ).

Very true, there are many console games (actually most modern console games) have better hair than DA:I. Not to mention, the console isn't the reason for the stylistic choice to:

-add receding hairlines and sideburns to nearly every style even though they're shared by women

-put in two versions of a Miley Cyrus haircut

-add a mullet

-3 measly hairstyles for Qunari: a tiny schoolmarm bun, a tiny malformed Mohawk, and tootsie rolls smushed onto the scalp and called corn rows

-use up like 10 hairstyle slots with different versions of a shaved head or buzzcut

-no decent looking buns or ponytails (the bun and ponytail are both small and odd)

-this abomination:
