PC players have always had ALL for years. Give some good stuff to have good looking characters to console players too!

Yeah. Right. And after nearly two years, we get GTA V. Soon we'll have it all, world domination included.

But, I'll swing my magic-PC-gamer-wand to give some sparcles to you, too.

(It's not the gamer's fault, that console modding is forbidden.)

Tell Bioware that. Modders have nothing to do with you "console players" and shouldn't hold back because of you.

I think what is meant is that while PC players can mod their game, us console players need BW to throw us a bone with hairstyle/clothing options or we will never get anything.

Mods are not that great, you know. And DAI tools doesn't work for some people either. Plus, while the eyebrows made by modders look really nice, the hairstyles in previous games were good but in the same time they were odd and you could always say they weren't made by the developers. Hair is more complex, and without the access to developers tools I really doubt they will look that great that someone will die of envy playing on consoles.

That's not to mention modders for *some* reasons only usually care for female chars and the males get pretty much nothing.

So in short, we all need BW to do something with the hairstyles, mods have nothing to do with it.

Problem is, and I have seen it way too many times, if mods are waved as the solution to problems (like the hairstyles, or the PJ), many people would label as whining the requestes of the console players, starting to yeel, with the usual insufferable air of superiority "pcmassterrrrrraccccceeeee" like idiots.

The mods can't be presented as a solution, because aren't. Or are only for some pc players.

I would have to say that I agree with all of the posts here. Bioware needs to get their crap together. Players, both PC and Console, have been pratically screaming for years to get better hair in games. While PC players have hope from modding Console players are dependent on the game developers to give them good choices. The hairs looks like Bioware spent too much time on everything else in game and when release time came went "Oh crap! We need hair!" Plus, the FrostBite engine used in Inquisition is rediculously hard to mod. If you look really close at Sera's hair there is a bit of animaiton at the ends, the horses tails are beautifully animated compared to other games, and the clothes on PC have wonderful physics applied ot them. They had the option to create some really nice hairs with some movement but they didn't. GET YOUR CRAP TOGETHER BIOWARE!

To all the modders out there that are working on hairs for these games, I implore you to make some good longish hairstyles for men and I fall at your feet in appreciation for you being willing to cover bioware's shortcomings.

I'm done now, that is all.

Yeah, while there are some new hairstyles I really like, I was still a bit disappointed. Not because I would have wanted "long lustrous locks" or something but because DA:I hairstyles seemed to be a step back from previous games. There are no ponytails or braids or the slick "swept back" look. There are sort of variations of those but they aren't really what I was looking for. Meanwhile they have a gazillion buzz cuts which just seemed like a lazy solution to me.

Facial hair also took a step backwards. There's no "chin goatees" or similar styles and the full beards/mustaches looked like they'd be fake ones glued to my Quizzys face XD. (Though I do have seen some people make them work on their characters.) My first Hawke was a testament of the dumped down options since I was unable to replicate his look in DA:I. There were no hair nor facial hair he had in DA2.

Speaking of DA2... in that game each of my characters had different hair but here I seem to gear towards the same styles since I can't make many of these options work. I guess I'll have to pretty much design the character around the hair if I want to use some of them =P (haven't succeeded yet but it's a work in progress).

I agree... I totally appreciate the fact that the CC allows us to make some awesome details, but with hairstyles missing it's just like incomplete happiness.

True. Why on earth wouldn't you want to give players some decent hairstyles? Most of the female playes (and prolly some of the guys too) want their characters to look sexy and stunning, but we GIRLS have like 8 styles from bald to almost bald looking like some kind of moss and one looking like attempt to make braided hairstyle which ends up appearing a little like poop.. C'mon  <_<
I really appreciate everything that BW has done, I still love them with all my heart BUT I want my Quizzy to be the deadliest and sexiest beast in all Thedas! ;D.
This game is incredible, but we are asking for just a little more effort with this. Pleased fans are the ones that stay devoted.  ;)

I agree with most people here. The only 2 hairstyles I ever used are the 2 shoulder length, free-flowing hairstyles, because in RL I have a sort of...psychosis, if you will, in which I cannot stand my hair to be pulled back, even when I work at the clinic, when I put my hair in a ponytail, I still leave some bangs on my face. I think the bun, ponytail and and the intricate braid would have been nice if they had morrigan-style bangs flowing over the face, or morrigan's hairstyle altogether :D

why is there so many bald options though, and the longer hairstyles suck, the only ones which works for me are the spiky mullet one and the ponytail anders cut.

We needed Josephine's hairstyle. I wouldn't be impressed if it was hairstyle for PC and they switched in last moment (there are screens with her old, high bun).

How about bangs for crying out loud. They have one style with some fringe - but we need real bangs and braids - at lease something to imply long hair!

I don't understand why most(I liked some of them)hairstyles available to Inquisitor are so bad. I mean, Bioware is clearly capable of creating good hairstyles, like Morrigan, Blackwall, Default Female Hawke in DA2, Tallis or Bethany's... why can't Inquisitor have such good hair?

I am glad these threads are still up - a bit disappointed in Bioware for not responding in them, come on guys, at least say soemthing.

I mean, has there ever been a roleplaying game where the players has gone "meh, I really wish for a game with less choices" ??
And the hair is important. I mean we can have scars! And freckles! That's one amazing CC and then they barely go "half in" on the hair?

My guess, and I have said that in these forums Before, they couldn't get it right on time and had to have a certain number of hairstyles and decided that 14 semi bald ones (14!) is better than nothing (and no, it's really not).

If so, they could at least have said it and then opened for the modders!
I never use mods, ever, and I never liked the hair mods since they usually stand out too much for my taste, but this time around I will be using hairmods unless Bioware releases new hairstyles.
I was really hoping that they would release 1 - 3 new styles with each DLC, but Jaws of Hakkon lef me disappointed on that front :/

I have no hopes for the Black Emporium, if we were getting new hairstyles they would have announced it by now.

Eh. I agree. The total silence from the devs about the matter is quite frustrating. Even the idiot who go to lament to Gaider that he doesn't like Cassandra got an answer of some sort (a rightously "get a life and meet real women") but for hairstyles not even a word spent. :(

Even the BE...I have not totally lost hope, but I'm not expecting anyhting. Would have hurted simply being clear "no, you can chance appearance, but the hair choise are the same". Is not even as if they have some fear it will not sell. BE is free, so no worry about bad advertising.

What should we do to have a word about the hairstyles, when the forum is already full of critiscism about the hairstyles? are we really so insignificant that we don't even deserve at least an explenation about why we are stuk with female characters with balding problems, or with half of the options being shaved? Expecially when it was clear from the promostional first models presented that the art style was going to be very different?

Is frustrating. :(

Very much so.

And yes, I guess you can say that no one forces us to buy the game and hairstyles are not what the game is about and so on.

But when so many people bring it up over and over again. And I don't understand why - this is the best CC in a Dragon Age (or even Bioware) game to this date and we have a lot less hairstyles than previously?

And it clearly bothers a lot of people.

I love the scars, but I would remove that for 5 more decent hairstyles without a doubt.

they had the best selection of hair in DA2, both origins hairstyles and even duncans thrown in, why couldn't they add all the hairstyles again, I mean the flipping sideburns look like they need taping on for Christ sake

They don't force us to buy the game, but that's not the critique. The critique is that a game with a CC system should have various hair options, particularly if you're going to brag about it being the best CC system ever (as Bioware did). And given that the previous entires had decent options, that Bioware is capable of making great options, and that there are so many bald/buzzcut options, we can argue that Bioware made a very bad decision. It's not about entitlement or freedom to buy, but about the bad decisions Bioware made as developers.

The hair assets for the NPCs are in the game. Since release, they could have easily patched the game to unlock those assets for CC. If their argument is that some would overlap armor or helmets, then that's a bad argument - simply put, hair and ears already overlap armor, and armor overlaps armor.

It's simply bad design followed by bad PR for not addressing it. So we should criticize them for both.

Yes, definitely a bad design, but hey the PR people did their job, at least in EA's minds - they got us to buy the game.

It is terrible what they did and I will try not to digress to far here, but we were promised so much that we never got.

  • Multiple endings
  • Tactical gameplay
  • Using the enviroment in battles, like having Varric on a hill "raining down arrows on your enemies" - how can we do that when the "hold" button does not work?
  • Sieges when taking over fortresses.
  • Your decisions having impacts
  • Your companions leaving you (I guess they still can but I have never been even remotely close to losing one of them in 4 playthroughs)
  • Customizing and upgrading Skyhold - what we got was not what we were promised!
  • The best CC ever - you cannot have the best CC without good hair!

And this has barely been adressed by anyone from Bioware.

Enough digressing, back to the CC and hair. And the make up  - it doesn't work right but at least we got the Black Emporium for that! And for free so thank you Bioware.

I don't mean to sound like I hate the game, I love it. Dragon Age is my favorite franchise and Dragon Age Origins is my favorite game.

But the hairs are an insult to an otherwise great CC (accept for the make up, but like I said, BE fixes that a bit), to us gamers and to the wonderful concept artists of Bioware.

yfHXSwi.png

I know this was really early in development, even before we had qunari as a playable race. But look at them...they kept using this to show of what the CC would be before they started with the demos.

I was so excitet about braids!

And look at that marvelous dwarven beard!

Bioware, we are still waiting for better hair or at least an explanaiton

Still depressed there's no cornrows in this game like the previous two. The hair options are terrible. It's culturally and ethnically lacking. I want to meet the people that worked on this portion of the game...

I just purchased the game not long ago and I must say initial play so very disappointing. The hair options are so hideous for the female character creation. Bioware could have done SO MUCH better than this. Thank God for the modders, otherwise I'd have gotten a refund right away. None of the sequels in my opinion have lived up to the standards of DA:O. I wasn't much of a fan of DA 2,.game play nor the characters. I find myself playing less and less as Bioware release these games.

It just seems as if there are always setbacks compared to the previous released game, which is so backwards. I'm hoping the awesome modders out there can eventually incorporate some lively new hairstyles to help our characters come to life and make them much more diverse. That is what makes the game a truly awesome playing experience. So hard for me to enjoy Inquisition. Despise the game play..I would love to know who's bright(not so bright) idea it was to have Inquisitors NOT automatically attack enemies in battle. Who wants to maneuver a character around while trying to attack simultaneously?? Level of quality in this game outside of the graphics has declined.

Becoming less and less of a fan these days of the DA franchise...definitely doing my research the next time before I ever purchase another DA game.

Not cool Bioware developers and Bioware team. Id preferred to wait to have a complete and well put together product than something quick and not fully complete.

Signed- A disappointed fan.

Yeah. At least for the PJs there is a "probably no". Not a satisfating anwer, since there is no explanation on why they can't let use use our armour (or even only some kind of armour, if some are sooo bad) or even a chance to change its colour. (since we already color it when coloring certain armour)

But for the hair nothing. No answer, no explanation. Nothing. not even the sign that they know peopl don't like the mayority of the styles, and are still looking at the model THEY have released time ago to understand what happened to those hairstyles.

Honestly, I would like better eyebrows even before hair. It is hard to pull off a short haircut when your eyebrows are out of whack. I envy the pc players and their gorgeous eyebrow mods.

If they wanted to make a dlc full of hairstyles, eyebrows, makeup, new schematics for weapons and armor, and skyhold pj options/armor toggle I would be more than happy to purchase it.
