Same here. I'm not the one to use mods, but this game just begs me to use ones. Especially if I want to play Qunari lady. Either I'll hope for miracle and create a face that actually suits current hairstyles (pfff, I can dream), or use mods (I have my eyes on reverse mohawk one).

I had to work very hard on a Qunari female face to play one. I usually go for cute but not beautiful faces, but with the Qunari lady I had to give her at least the dignity of decorated horns and a beautiful face.

I can't understand why the devs choose those hairstyles! are like...the styles that are always in the CC, but no one use if they want a serious character!

I think I'll need to do something I never thought I would and find some good sliders for Qunari lady. I really want to play one at least once. What troubles me the most is placement of horns. They look like someone took tube of glue and... just added them here. It's hard to make them look like they're actually part of a head.

Some hairstyles are decent. Playable on certain races. But that's reaaaally few. I get it, they had problem with long hair and I'm not suprised. But they are perfectly capable of making good hairstyles. Cas, Cullen, Josephine, Morrigan, Sera (seriously the time they spent animating her hair could be used to improve hairstyles for Quizzy). Maybe they thought that most players play with helmets on? Or maybe they hoped to encourage people to do so xD

It really boggles the mind. And they are so focused on multiplayer, honestly will Dragon Age 4 be a MMO? I am really concerned to be honest...

Anyways, I am currently playing as a Qunari and this is my Adaar. I think she turned out pretty :)

Spoilers for size

Spoiler

I used that weird little "bun" hairstyle on her. And fancy horns^^  I just wish she could have some nice hair...
An almost shoulderlenght braid - would that really be impossible? I mean really?

I played enough MMOs in my life, so I must say 'no thank you'. The fact I'm playing single player game should be a sign that I have enough...

Nice! I really like her eyes!

This hairstyle would be nice if not for the part around horns. Seriously, ugh... It looks like hair grow out of them... Good that at least most of the time we see back of character's head.

Yeah, I wonder what's so bad aboud braids. No long hairstyles? Fine, but give us a way to at least have an impression of long hair. Braids would be the best solution.

She is mine Adaar  fancy horns for her too, but I choose the corncrows. But really, the tree horrors (I can't really call them hairstyles) are some of the worse things I have ever came across a videogame with CC. I think as primitve as are, the hair in NWN are better than what the Qunari have as hair.

Spoiler

Really, if they are so ready to create stuff for the MP, the least they can do is pass what they make for the MP into the SP. I was really deluded the BE didn't give nothing new, just stuff that was already in game.

Those fancy horns are probably the only thing good about hairstyles... Or at least idea of fancy horns that is.

I really wish they gave us horns similar to those Qunari had in DA2. I know it's impossible now... But I LOVED that Qunari design. Seriously. They were truly grey giants.

I have nothing agains them improving MP, but I hope they remember that many of DA fans actually don't play MP... Sometimes it feels that way.

I prefer the variety of the actual Qunari, actually. But it would have been cute having the DA2 horns design too and dark sclera for the eyes.

What I miss from the DA2 Qunari is the male body model. The actual male Qunari are so big that are almost ridicolous. (expecially while wearing the PJs) they seem on steroids or something similar. And of course the hair.

But yes. The feeling is that the MP get tons of attention, while the SP players are left in the dust.

Dark sclera... Oh, for that I would install mods in one second. That's what I miss the most from DA2 Qunari.

True, current male Qunari model is ridiculous. Why they made such a change, I have no idea. *shrugs*

Daaaammn... Because of all this talk about Qunari I feel like making one now (and cursing at CC). I still have my canon Quizzy pt to finish! >.<

Thank you Rascoth, I wanted her to be beautiful in a powerful way, if that makes sense  :P

Yes I know, I never got into the whole MMO thing, I have tried a couple and it's not for me.

This is what's wrong with trying to cater to too many things, or trying to hold on to what's "in" currently.

They try to make everyone happy and just disappoints everyone in the end, instead of doing what they do best.

We see this with music festivals in Sweden where I'm from. Like 15 years ago we had these big festivals that everyone talked about, music festivals became a thing and a lot of niched festivals, rock festivals, punk festivals and so on started popping up everywhere.

What happened? The previously big ones started to die out so they started to mix up their performances even more. 50 Cent and Tomas Di Leva (look him up on youtube, he is called Hippie-Jesus for a reason...And he calls himself a flower of love from outer space..)

With the result of them tanking completely..

Honestly...which festival will you pay like 250 dollars for? The one with artists playing the type of music you really like, or the one that mixes everything and you might like 2 performances over all?

Same thing with video games, they all try to cater to everybody which just makes most people unhappy.

I love Dragon Age Origins - I don't want an MMO! If I wanted one, I would play one.

And MMO players don't want Dragon Age Origins. So no, if that's what Bioware wants - being a part of the E-sports world, that's not going to happen.

And first person shooter players don't want Dragon Age Origins either.

And trying to mix these three together won't make anyone happy.

Bioware should stick to what they are good at, strong characters and a deep story.

*Breathes out slowly*

That was a bit of a rant from me..

We should really stick to the topic, hairstyles, and the lack of communication from Bioware.

Oh and Felya87, I really like your Qunari. She looks a bit frightening, and yet very beautiful :) She has a softness I really like. And a great colour scheme.

-snip-

Heh, I get what you mean. I'm going to try get a similar effect. After all I'm planing to make 2h warrior, so she better be powerful xD

Most MMOs have really beautiful stories with amazing lore, but other players oftenly spoil it for people, who play for those things (like myself)... and I have yet to encounter MMO where it doesn't happen. In my opinion the world built for particular game (MMO one) is here not as a background for competition and drama, but as a main actor. At least that's how I feel. And with my experience with MMO I can say that I'm in minority.

You can never make everyone happy. That's something even a child can understand. Doing too little is bad, but in my opinion trying to do too much is even worse. Not only you disappoint others, but also yourself. And if there's little, there can be more, but when there is too much, what? Take away? I don't think that can happen in this particular case.

That may be a rant, but a very beautiful one and I understand it

But yeah, I think we should really get back to topic o 3o

So, on topic. I think the amout of useable hairstyles can be described this way.

"I think I'll chage my hairstyle in BS!... .... .... .... My Hawke has it... ... ... And this one is my alts.... .... ...."

That's what happened to me today. True story.

It's not that. You can enjoy both. I, for one thing, am huge fan of strategic games as well as RPG. The fact that I enjoy both is not bad itself. The idea of forcibilly mixing those, trying to make everyone happy. Nothing good comes out of it.

on topic though, does anyone have a good source of hair mods? I'm browsing tumblr atm but I never manage to find the source mod someone's using because people rather just post their pretty screenshots with silly hastags instead T_T

Try this Tumblr specifically. Most of the hair mods are posted or reposted there. Just remember two caveats of Hair mods:

  1. Your mesh settings MUST be set to Ultra
  2. They won't work in the Black Emporium or the Mirror of Transformation because (for whatever reason) the graphics settings aren't programmed to work at an Ultra level, but High only, so this means the hair mods don't show up (since they require Ultra mesh settings)

I'll get back off topic for a few seconds here  :P I didn't mean that you cannot enjoy different types of games, I do too. I like most kinds honestly :) But I am not looking for CoD in a fantasy RPG game. I think they should all stick to what they do best :)

If the games are too mixed, well then MMO-players will stick to a real MMO, RPG-players will stick to a real RPG and first person shooters will stick to a real good first person shooter game. No one likes something that feels half assed, which unfortunately is a side effect of trying too hard.

Back to topic, you should check out this thread if you haven't already: http://forum.bioware...ods-are-coming/

Adela has been working really hard.

I don't get where you got this notion of DAI mixing up different genres to please different people. the SP & MP are entirely separate and the only thing I see what they did try to do something different was doing something Skyrim was good at (the open-world areas). I don't see any MMO- or FPS-elements in DAI and I'd classify DAI as strictly RPG.

All the empty fetch quests has a very MMO feel to it, and Laidlaw had said himself that he wanted to do DA3 as an MMO from the beginning, which I am glad that they did not.

There are no FPS moments in here either, but already in DA2 people were complaining that the fighting and the gameplay over all was to little DAO and too much Mass Effect. I only brought up FPS because I was talking about gaming in general, it feels like gaming companies are trying to cater to different crowds instead of focusing on the players in certain genres.

Anyways, hairstyles...

You know what hairstyles I really miss? Except for anything but baldness of course...

But that shoulder lenght braid for males from Origins.

And Teagans hair. I really like Teagans hair.

I liked the chin lenght hair with the small braids. Sadly covered the small elven ears, but were very cute.

I miss mostly the two hairstyles from DA2 (even if I hated the game) Cassandra's hair and the low ponytail with bangs.

Oh yes, that one was cute! :)

There were so many nice hairstyles in Origins, honestly. No wow factor, but nice. And I miss them.

I feel that if they could add one or two more shoulder lenght - maybe one more guy like and one more feminine, two - three up do's and a nice feminine pixiecut then I would be able to let this go. Oh, and if they added some qunari hair, like a nice braid? Why wouldn't that work?

I wouldn't be happy with it since such an extensive CC should have a lot of different hairstyles to choose from. But I would say thank you Bioware for listening to our complaints and thank you for putting in an effort to make us happy, and let it go.

If I could make a wish for a hairstyle I would want a nice thick braid, I have really long and thick hair and I always wear it braided and I think braids are beautiful :)
And you could make a nice up do with braids so they would not have the clipping issues..

You can find mods on Nexus, on tumplr (like skara888) and other sites like DAItools. Here is a blog which lists some of them but I don't think it is really up to date. There are several new hairmods out.

New hairmods are often posted by people in the "Post sreenshots of your inquisitor" thread. This is where I often find out about new hairmods.

If you play on PC and therefore can use mods, there are also other nice mods to improve eyebrows, makeup and face texture like those from Shantia

I know what you mean - I wanted to play a Qunari which I think is beautiful - in the Dragon Age comics the Qunari Rasaan looks very beautiful in my opinion too - so I wanted something like that. But I couldn't achieve it with the CC options. There are people here in the forum with impressive skills and what they accomplish is amazing. But I lack those skills - so I am really grateful to the modders that they provide us with mods that help create a better version of a character that we want to play.

But those playing on consoles can't use mods and with each patch there is always a (thankfully short) time frame where mods are broken and the modders have to adjust the tools so that we can play again with mods. And I don't want to play without them anymore to be honest - it just makes the game more fun to play.

I think many people would even pay to get better and new hair options and maybe new face textures or makeup (improvement for Qunari would be fine - I am looking at you strangely misplayed eyeliner and eyeshadow...) from Bioware, myself included. And I doubt it would take so much time and effort that it would not be profitable.

And I must say, I love Wenderas hair mod (and Shantias qunari mods):

Mods are out of My reach (PS4player here). And is bioware who should provide decent hair. I really don't understand where have they left the good taste? In DA2 there where good hair. IS one of the few things I'll save from that game. In DAI they have regressed.

Half a year and still the argumant have been barely adressed.

Yes, it's a shame that there is a need of modders to give us decent hair. I mean earlier it has been that people wanted the really long hairstyles or the unnatural colours or changing the hairstyles on companions.

But this time around? The hairstyles are just terrible and everyone seem to think so and still nothing from Bioware.

If they are working on it why not letting us know? Just say something (I feel like a broken record)
