Are there any appearance mods out yet for PC? specifically for Cassandra and Josephine?

Not manly per se but for biological reasons long hair is more feminine, i.e. a sign of youth, health and fertility. Still, as Cassandra is over 40, and waning in fertility as well as well past her youth the short hair could make sense.

I honestly thought that you were going to end that with telling me that I should take the red pill. Your argument isn't even about reproductive biology. What you talk about is social psychology.

Your whole argument about women preferring wealth and men seeking youth isn't a thing about reproductive biology. Reproductive biology in its simplest form consists on hormonal reactions that are a big wild card, seeign how the reactions can be triggered by anything.

Social psychology is what sets what we see as beauty and attractive in our potential mates. And it's something that constantly changes. What we considered appealing during the renaissance is vastly different to what we consider appealing today. Hell what we consider appealing today is vastly different to what was the norm in the 50s.

Again your whole argument about sex being tied to money and youth is not about actual reproductive biology. You aren't born with the desire to bang rich guys or small petite white women with red hair and green eyes. You develop those tastes through social context.

The social environment is a filter, nothing more. I think we shall have to agree to disagree. I believe biology to be a primary, exceeding cultural and social power and you appear to believe the opposite. We shall not make headway in this manner. And I honestly have no idea how you can make the statement that what was appealing in the 50's was vastly different from today. No clue.

Eh, appearance changers were pretty popular for the other games in the series so I really don't see why asking for one is such a big deal. Hell, some of them didn't change all that much at all and in Origins I'd almost say some of them were a lot more fun to have than the default appearance. Not more beautiful or handsome, but just a few changes to complexion and maybe hair and make-up, eye set, and you get nearly the same face but a little more polished looking. Personally I'm happy with how everyone looks in this game, and just have a few issues with how Blackwall's beard is mapped to his face. Ergo, if someone makes a mod that makes that look more natural I will use it. Cass and Josie will stay the same though, as will pretty much everyone else.

There is this thing called "Science", you might want to look into it.

Oh yeah, also "History."

The sociological aspect is what really defines the beauty standards and everything of the sort. During the renaissance, the beauty standard preferred women that were thick, because they were considered fertile. Today that's not the case.

You can see the difference by comparing the beauty standards of today with those of the 50s. Today the beauty standard is considered to be a very slim figure, where in the 50s the standard was curvier. If you need evidence just compare the models.

Scent is important but in a video game, hard to detect, at least harder than appearance variables.

Well yes, scent TVs aren't exactly invented (PHEW!). What I was trying to convey is that biological mumbo jumbo you're talking about is a little bit more complicated than you're putting it right now.

Ah but long hair better shows health, youth and fertility; it is only feminine, if at all for that reason. Once again male hair length is irrelevant as a mate value factor.

In what way does long hair show youth and fertility? At best I could give you health, because it might give a bit more luster to the hair, which could be more easily seen the more hair you have, but there are better ways to judge health than the sheen of one's hair.

But youth and fertility? In what way does long hair show that a woman is fertile? And I have never heard of anyone who can guess the age of someone by looking at how long their hair is.

The social environment is a filter, nothing more. I think we shall have to agree to disagree. As others have already said, it is a historical fact that beauty ideals have changed over time. There are some basic biological factors at play when choosing mates, but sociological factors are considerably more important.

I don't want to play Dark Souls with a scent tv. Imagine how disgusting Blightown must smell.

What we should be asking for is a way to change the Inquisitor's casual getup at Skyhold. I'd like to be able to have something that looks badass like Cassandra's business armor. Priorities, people.

Yup. Down with the ugly brown pyjamas!

Let me guess, you're also after a "White Josephine" mod too, huh?

I'm still a bit puzzled that Josephine is perceived as a PoC. She is tanned for sure, but more like an Italian or Spanish woman would be, right? Her features are pretty Mediterranean, especially the nose.

I don't think there's a single level in Dante's Inferno I would like to smell...

Dante's Inferno is a big NOPE if Scent TV ever becomes a reality.

When I was little I had a really short bobline haircut but now my hair comes below my shoulder blades, so I must be a timelord if the length of my hair has anything to say about my youth lol

Actually, I, a straight male, am romancing Dorian (gay dwarf), Blackwall (straight female dwarf) and Solas (straight female elf). And why? because frankly they are better romances than the straight male ones on offer. I know BW has an agenda so I just roll with it.

Someone made a "White Isabella" mod for DA2.

I will never underestimate the amount of casual racism and entitlement that exists within gaming culture.

Same here. I had short hair when I was younger and now I go between longer and shorter hair depending on the time of year. I'm practically a yo-yo!

Seriously, I can get how hair might show off health but youth and fertility? That is just nonsense.

I don't think it's statistically possible to overestimate it.

Now you made me look it up. Thanks a lot.

Now that I'm thinking about it, I actually did use two mods when I played through Dragon Age II and one of them put pants on Isabela and I saw a mod that said something about a more fair skinned Isabela.

Does it even make sense? I mean technically even if Isabella was white, she would had ended up with a permanent tan, considering how much time she must have spent on the sea.

There should have been a mod that made her breasts more like they were in Origins. See how many downloads that would get...

I don't know Isa was always overly friendly, she probably spent a lot of time in the cabin...
