half the time I can't even click on a rift to close it with the tactical view. Or well clicking on any elevated target is a nightmare.

There's a mod for tactical cam zoom out:

 

As for the rifts, you can always use F. It's so much easier. Please note that for some rifts you need to get so close to close it.

It's not a mod. It's hack using Cheat Engine. It not clear how Bioware (or it's DRM features at least) will react. Use it at your own risk.

I was just going to post info about this "mod". It's actually based on something called Cheat Engine, which I've never used, but in this case it is used to modify the way the camera functions.

 

I installed it and tested it and it works. It's wonderful having a real view of the field when I want it now. After playing with it for only 15 minutes there is no way I could go back.

 

But be cautious. The Cheat Engine installer installs at least two pieces of crapware that you'll want to immediately uninstall. Other than that I can only guess as to whether or not it is safe to install. I highly suggest making a restore point before installing it.

 

I'm not going to post a link so as to avoid possible ire (it's not really a cheat in this case though...), but if you google it you'll find it pretty quickly.

Yes, it's actually a CE table. It's very easy to use though. Just play offline if you're too cautious.
