What files do i need to copy from the x1 or x2 campaign folder in to my campaign folder to get the x0_saferest trigger to work?

I believe those are from NWN1, not NWN2.  All you need to do to make a safe rest trigger in NWN2, assuming you're using the wandering monster system used in MotB and SoZ, is to have the trigger set the local integer WM_DISABLED on the current area to 1 when you enter the trigger.  Then set it back to 0 on exiting the trigger.

in the Trigger blueprints, under the Empty category is one called "X0_SAFEREST".

The comments say this:

"Paint this trigger down into any XP1 area that is rest restricted. Paint it in such a way that it encloses a small room and contains one door. That door has to exist for the rest to work and be closed otherwise the player will get a "This area is not secure" message and be prevented from resting."

I painted the trigger around a room with a door, and made the area "no resting allowed", baked it, but either in the trigger or outside of it, I just get the normal message about how you can't rest, not the message referenced in the trigger comment.

But I can easily write a OnEnter for that trigger checking if a door is in the trigger and if area property is no rest, set  to can rest, and OnExit do the opposite, if that's all there is to it.

See here for more discussion of the trigger of which you speak.
