Left Hawke behind. Felt bad but he isn't as vital to the Inquisition as Stroud is.
+ The post-Adamant Varric scene is infinitely better if you left Hawke behind.

I am one of the people who didn't really care for Hawke so I had to let him go. There is no way I would choose him over Alistair. I would even choose Logaihn over Hawke any day.
I don't care for my Hawke either. He is a douche. He released Corypheus on purpose and killed a lot of people because he didn't get his way.
The Hawke I played with in-game was a female but I made choices I was unaware of, so I remade a male Hawke in the Keep.
I sacrificed Alistair only for the sob stories.
Also, I told Leliana that the Divine made no sense in the Fade. She said "that sounds like her...", then in my reloaded save, I told her, "The Divine was at peace," she said "that sounds like her..." so it didn't really make a difference. Poor Leliana....
I had one play through with Alistair remaining a Grey Warden and the two of us going off to fight darkspawn together. So, I had that moment when I was supposed to choose between Hawke and Alistair. I went with Alistair first because of the storyline--it just seemed right--but then I couldn't stand it. I couldn't stand to think of Alistair dead, so I reloaded and left Hawke behind. It really sucked when Varrick said he had to write a letter to Merrill.
I had Stroud on my next play through and my canon Warden and Hawke (female with Fenris), and all I could think of was Varrick having to send that letter to Fenris. I have a feeling Stroud is going to get left behind a lot.
This time, Alistair is a drunk and Loghain is the Warden. Somehow, I think that won't bother me nearly so much. I wonder who gets to write the letter to the Queen..
At least they didn't make me send Nathaniel in on this quest.
I'm curious- for those of you that had a Loghain vs. Hawke decision, if Alistair is still alive and presumably a wandering drunk, does he make an appearance anywhere? Like in DA2 you find him in the tavern and he's all "Swooping is bad" ?
Alistair is presumably a wandering drunk in my world, but I haven't seen him so far in DAI. I haven't seen any videos of such an appearance, either. If he's there, someone will find him, eventually.
Maybe Andraste will revive Hawke/Warden/X...
Jk. After viewing that mission, I think it's pretty clear there is no Maker/Andraste, and the weird things that happen are just people messing around with magic. Solas explained it pretty well... people do crazy things, and the stories get passed around and eventually they become gods of the culture.
The Inquisitor will probably be a "god" in 1000 Dragon Years because of the stories passed on about him/her.
Whoever Andraste and the Maker were -- they probably existed, but not to the holy extent that many of Thedas believe.
It was a tough choice between Hawke and Loghain, but...It was Loghain's time, and I love my Hawke. And I could never make Varric sad like that. No. Never gonna happen.
It would have been an easier choice if it had been Alistair or Stroud. I'd leave them in the Fade without a second thought.
My canon DAO run was a romanced Alistair who remained a Warden but my Warden did the Ultimate Sacrifice.
DAI rolls around and I sided with the Templars (as I usually do), so I left poor Alistair in the Fade even though it broke my heart. Besides the fact that I couldn't let my Hawke leave Sebastian alone, poor Alistair's lover, father, and now mother is dead. Best to give him a noble sendoff before they kill his puppy or something. Still, THE FEELS! ![]()
(On a sidenote, I was raging about the decision to my friends who are all playing DAI as well and they basically said "Lolwut" because they all had Stroud. They sympathized with me pretty quickly when I told them about the variations though, since they all love Alistair as well.
)
Having to choose between Hawke or Warden Carver/Bethany would have been amazing.
Did anyone else talk to a romanced Alistair after receiving a letter from the HoF? She attaches a note for him, no idea what, and if you talk to him after he says something about how it's reminded him of just how badly he misses her (and for you, the letter said to make sure he survives or her work for a cure will be for nothing)
...and so Hawke was left to the Fade. Sorry Anders.
How can you talk to Alistair? The only time I saw him was in Redcliff after all that Alexius mess, and it was a cutscene, you couldn't really talk much.

Ah I see, thanks Oswin!
To me, the real hard part wasn't choosing Hawke over Stroud but what happened after I returned from the Fade. The Wardens staring at me asking me who's going to lead them now that all the Senior Members are dead?
In my first gameplay I had to choose between Hawke and Alistar since Alistar wasn't the king, he remained a Warden with my main character. It was the hardest decision I had to make. I almost bursted into tears!
And the scene following this... when I had to tell Varric, omg, that was harsh... specially when Varric said "Well, I think I'm supposed to tell Fenris this". My heart was in pieces, I felt so terrible!
(I can't believe a game can create these feelings in me, it's amazing!)
Now, in my second gameplay, I turned Alistar King and I sacrified Strout and saved Hawke. Yet, I liked having Hawk dead, it made my first gameplay so heroic and painful. Bitterweet.
They asked about Nathaniel two times in the Keep, so I was almost certain this was what was going to happen when I heard multiple people can be Hawke's Warden contact. Bit disappointing, Nathaniel would have been cool to have in that role. Hawke did potentially meet him too.
Nooooo, don't say that! I could never feed Nathaniel to the spider! That would be worse than feeding Alistair to the spider!

This game made me want to cry when I romanced Solas. This game made me want to cry on my second play through when I had to decide between Alistair and Hawke. You know what would have really kicked it? Bioware should have had Leliana say something if you sacrificed Alistair (or Morrigan but she wouldn't be kind). That would have sent me over the edge!

I am so sad for the Wardens. They have fallen so far since the Blight and it seems like Bioware wants to destroy the Order. They were such heroes, and now they are...

No. Oh god, that would be awesome in a terribly painful way.
