Game was fun for me while it lasted, but I refuse to play a Bioware game without party dialogue.
I would get a refund, but i feel like the game was worth the money, its just bugged to ****.
Anyone else gunshy about playing due to banter bug or any other issues?
Is anyone else just not playing until they fix the banter bug?

I'm finishing my first playthrough (I only have the last story mission to go), but probably holding out for the first patch before doing my next one. I haven't been hit super hard by bugs, but enough to prefer to wait for my next run.

I'm putting my game on hold until the banter gets fixed (or until we find out it won't be fixed). I'm enjoying the game immensely and I want to get the best experience possible out of it. The banter I've heard is some of BioWare's best yet and I don't want to miss out on so much of it.
I've tried the fixes and they worked to an extent, but I was spending the whole time worrying about how long it would be before I heard more banter and that spoilt the fun of the game. I've waited years to play Inquisition, so I can wait a bit longer.

I agree with Goethe. (A sentence i'd never though i'd write in relation to a video game, i'll be honest)
It's the feeling the bug creates, the worrying about it, the inability to relax that is causing it to be game breaking.
I'll try my best to hold off playing, but my will is weak.

I'm sure I'm going to make choices I regret in my first playthrough, so I'm pushing ahead with a completitionist game. Then I'll probably do a complete DAO-DA2 run to tweak my preferred canon, based on what I learn from DAI. By the time I'm finished with that, bugs will hopefully be fixed.

I don't know what you're playing. But I got a message saying PS4 update 2.03. It's said to fix the problems in Dragon Age.

This is apparently supposed to help fix it, and it's a super easy fix. Maybe try it out!

I find this to be the kind of bug that should have been fixed before the game was ever released.

I'm forcing myself to not continue, though it's severely hampering my excitement to play; the longer we go without a patch, the less wind there is behind my sails.

No, I'm playing and intend to continue playing the game; when the banter is fixed it'll be something new to discover. Until then I'm enjoying the terrain, chatting up NPCs and learning game mechanics.

Of all the reasons to stop playing. i have a combat bug that occasionally causes me to be unable to fight and target my companions instead of enemies. It's horrible but i like playing too much to stop.

Is this specific platforms only? I've had consistent party banter on PS4.

It's been hitting all platforms, including previous gen.
As for me, I've had the bug on PC and have used some of the workarounds in order to get it to trigger. However, I'm having a blast playing through the game despite various issues including that one.
When this is patched, which I feel like it will in time, it'll make the game that much better for me. I'll know more of what I'm doing in general, and that will allow me to focus on the party banter that much more. You know, rather than making sure I don't run into a dragon in a zone. Again. Thanks Hinterlands. ![]()

It'd be interesting to understand what triggers the banter bug. Not everybody has it, so is there perhaps something that you have to do to trigger it?
I've been fortunate not to see any significant bugs in my current playthrough, thus far. Couple of graphical glitches which were inconsequential, and one crash to desktop, in nearly 90 hours of playing. I WOULD have stepped into the accent switch bug, if I hadn't been warned about it beforehand, and knew not to customize the appearance of a certain character.
Hopefully they get these sorts of bugs fixed in the first patch, as both of those are the types of bugs that can really detract from the immersion into the game.

So is the banter bug related to the SAME banter repeated ad infinitum bug that I have? I always use the same party (unless swapping someone out for a specific reason).
I get this bit of banter multiple times an hour, sometimes within seconds.
Solas: "Varric, you fought XXXXXXXXX once before..."
Varric: "not my fondest memory but..."

I'm not carrying on with the main plot till they fix the accent change bug that has been the main worry for most since launch. Come on it's a easy fix I want to carry on but I'm not having my character change voices like that after over 30hours worth of play. Bug testing did it happen?

People that have a lack of banter, have you tried to start the game again with other character just to see if some banter triggers?
Thankfully i dont have the banter bug, but there seems to be some bugs that if they start early on, they will never get on track because it stays "written" on your saved games, and sometimes starting a playthrough again might fix. I know this is not a fix, and it must be really disappointing to not have banter, but might be worth to give it a try.
Also, if you are still playing without banter, have you gone to Hissing Wastes yet? Some regions in the world were really "silent" for me in terms of banter, but when i got to Hissing Wastes it was like someone took the lid of the jar and my companions just started talking to each other on a ridiculous rate - like every 3m they would say something. I even tried different combos of companions to see if it would work and it did, they were babbling like hell, it was actually annoying at some point cause i found myself constantly stopping whatever i was doing just to listen to it all.
Also, make sure you take Dorian to Venatori related quests, Solas for Elves / magical ruins quests, Blackwall for Warden related quests, cause they always have something to say about it, even if its just a line now and then.
Good luck! I know how sad it must be to have a silent party ![]()

I'm not sure if I have this bug or not, since they do have banter, but sometimes it takes hours to "activate" the next one, which is a bit odd.
