Generally speaking, If you want the best value go with AMD. If you want the best experience, go with Nvidia. That's it in a nut shell. I have owned both Nvidia and AMD cards and both can do the job just fine. They both come with game packages. There are AMD cards that have very good performance and there are Nvidia cards that have very good value. This is not rocket science. It is just people arguing over some of the most minor details that life can offer us. If you have a computer that can play DA:I, you are rich and there is not really much to complain about.

AS many have said, for this game only AMD, but if you play many other games you might want nvidia not only for less noise and heat, but also because many other games supports Physx.

I also saw many comments about AMD mantle API being bugged

I keep telling people, sigh... I'll say it once again... Get Red or Green it REALLY DOESN'T MATTER. Just see the benchmarks, see what kind of money you're willing to shell out for the performance you will be getting.

Which is most powerful/highest performance depends on the time of year (who's just released new videocards). Neither is the 'premium brand'.

Recently nvidia have more features in the drivers (can force some postprocessing effects), whereas ati have better technology for multi-monitor and htpc. Just go for which is more important to you.

and htpc.

This is the first time I ever hear anyone claim that. Maybe care to elaborate?

PhysX is well overrated and not important to even think about when you purchase a card or game, trust me I know since I have Nvidia cards and PhysX is about as useful as a hangover.

You talk about noise where does coil whine fit in?.But hey we all know Nvidia cards are perfect right?...Lets get real here.

Keep the FUD coming,at least it's entertaining .

Nvidia all the way. AMD cards are usually louder, hotter, and take too much power compared to nvidia.

My R295x2 runs both cool and quiet. Running DAI on Ultra, the temp maxes out around 51°C.

But it does take a ton of power.

nVidia, always nVidia. Especially the drivers are just so much better than those of ATI/AMD...

I disagree. Nvidia often screws up when releasing new drivers, which introduce new issues in older games and cards.

We don't have to look too far for an example. Recent Nvidia drivers are incompatible with Dragon Age II with DirectX 11 enabled.

I personally had issues with Mass Effect. I had to roll back to a very specific driver version to not get texture issues.

For those who say AMD cards run hot and loud, well so did the Nvidia GTX 480 GPU.

It's only the reference R9 series that's hot and loud compared to other AMD and Nvidia cards. Non ref versions are pretty silent and have low temperatures.

Should have been more specific back there and said "driver interface" instead.

My MSI 560Ti card runs louder then my Sapphire 280x OC,as to temps about same in general infact highest I can get temps  to is 70c and that's with FuMark GPU stress test on max, which it passes with flying colours,I could get technical and say depends on the country you in (hot or cold)and case cooling as well.

Power is really not an issue,I think most gamers here all use high quality PSUs and  higher models then needed to allow upgrades, power has increased quite a lot since the very old TNT/3DFX/ATi days on both sides.

I'll be surprised if anybody  here is using a crappy PSU.

More FUD, I can afford three Nvidia 980s right now if I want to upgrade, most gamers go with value and performance overall, always best to have as much options as possible when upgrading etc, pretty stupid to restrict yourself to one brand or one  GPU  chipset only.

It is about performance, my PC is always crappy **** loser, AMD cards do better when pc sucks, nvidia cards do better when PC rock

I'm not into theory, I'm just saying how it went for me, low frequency ram, shitty processor, slow hd and so on, AMD did (and does) wondrous things for me

NVidia wasn't that great, but it seems great on my friends with high end PCs where AMD doesn't seem that special

I would just like to point that out since people seem to talk as if PC were as good as the GPU but thats not always true, I've had pretty basic PC with great GPUs, with this setup AMD SEEM to be a lot better, and I mean a lot, really

Again not true,I would accept Intel have the best CPUs and have done  so for quite awhile now for gaming over AMD CPUs,Nvidia only really got back into the ball game on performance crown with 970 and 980 video card wise, just look how old 290s are  now but still  hold their own pretty well still,I'm sure when the next new round of video cards come  ie 390s goal posts will change  yet again,it's called competition and  the video card market has always been very competitive on both sides for a long time now.

I have an AMD card that cost me over $1000.

It's not only the cost-conscious who choose AMD.

Read again, I did not put any exclusivity on rich people, just on poor ones. Rich = nvidia, yeah, but not always, poor people however should ALWAYS go for AMD, I guess if you just read my post, it is obvious

It seems like you did not even read my post... what the hell? You care about high end, great, I couldn't care less, say whatever you want

"MIMIMI~AMD IS PRETTY GOOD AND IS COMPETITIVE", seriously? What about a nice cup of I DON'T GIVE A ****

I posted about my experience, that's it, wanna cry, cry, just tell "admin I was offended" and carry on with your life

well, Nvidias "equivalent" to the R295X, the Titan-Z, costs much more (~3000$ when released) ;)
(but this card is pretty pointless)

its fact that in the last years Nvidia cards were always more expensive than AMD cards.

Nvidia have priced higher because marketing... and it seems to work going by this thread

They even charged a premium for the utterly hopeless geforce fx which is about the worst videocard ever and was completely blow away by ati at the time.

Otherwise except for 2003/4 when nvidia were crap and 2005/6 for ati (now amd) neither has been clearly better. Which is the very best changes every six months and then again for the mid-range.

Rather than yelling at each other which is better, perhaps we should talk about the bad habit of game developers favouring one GPU vendor over the other and shafting half their customers.
