TLDR: Chests are still needed in Inquistition... not wanted... NEEDED.
I have come up to a situation where I need malachite for a quest, but it cannot be looted anywhere in the zone you get the quest... Exaulted Plains... Malachite.
Apparently you can loot the malachite from a boat behind the Feredlen Frostback in the Hinterlands. I beat that dragon long before I made it to the exaulted plains however and I looted that boat and sold the contents.
This is not the only quest this has happened for btw.
When I started the game, I figured I might need to save gems for later use in crafting (etc) (ala origins and donating to the chests for the army), but I was always able to save them in chests before... so the removal of chests implied to me that if there was no quest designator in the description of the item, it was safe to sell. Now I find I am wrong.
You took away the chest which you have kept through DA:O and DA:2... This time I have very little bag space to go around since I also need to carry other quest related valuables, upgrades... etc and make sure to keep room available when I go out into the wild.
BUT --- in Origins, I had a chest to put these things in, so I could come back to them later when I knew I would need them.
I love the open world... but in order to keep things moving, storage is one thing that is a must... simply because you cannot keep the story linear in an open world.
PLEASE bring chests to DAI...
--- I have all this space in my room and no reason to go there for myself at all... unless a conversation takes me there. Put a chest there... make it a inquisition perk.
