Templar, Reaver or Champion?

Plus, since it was the same play through where I did the Cullen romance, it felt organic.
Didn't play Champion or Reaver yet so I can't comment on those two.

"Try playing one of your companions in some battles with each one (Blackwall - Champion, Bull - Reaver and Cassandra - Templar) and then see which fits your play style bests."
Good recommendation. I'm currently leaning towards Reaver simply because Champion, and especially Templar, are just too vanilla for me. We'll see if I come to regret

Storywise, I doubt they do. There won't be any recognition I bet on what you choose, but you can get some insight into what being a Templar is like from Cullen. Not just from the initial talk with him, but through a quest that involves him later on.
Personally, I'm going Champion. Honestly don't think my Cadash could deal with that **** a Templar has to endure. Plus, he kills mages easily enough as it is.
My cadash is going Reaver. He's mastered sword and shield, knows the price Templars pay as a lyrium smuggler and just needs some extra power to his blows.
Plus Iron Bull saying I smell dragony is funny.

I've focused on the Battlemaster and Two-Handed Weapons trees the most, so wondering if those choices affect which I should choose - Templar, Champion, or Reaver? I've also a few points spent on Weapon and Shield, but mostly I'm of the hack-and-slash kind of type in any game anyway... so would Reaver be fitting for that?
I haven't had Iron Bull in the team for a while, maybe I should try what it's like controlling him.

Since I don't like Templars in DA:I I chose Reaver.

So he's going to start quaffing Dragon blood?
That's like talking crap about crackheads and then smoking meth.

But isn't that a one off thing
Templars become addicted to Lyrium

No.
Its more akin to, you drink more to gain more power, while Templars need to regularly drink it to keep their power.
Dragon Blood is basic greed, and Lyrium is required to maintain it. Also the damage of Dragon Blood can be inflicted upon the first consumption, it has a high mortality rate, and even in those who survive its going to inflict something akin to gradual insanity on them, or eventual psychosis resulting insanity, one or the other. Either way its ridiculous to judge Templars for their addiction and then to jump into something that is just as bad if not arguably worse.

So in other words Lyrium is a drug addiction, whereas Dragons blood is entirely up to individual if they want more. - in which case yes Dragon blood is better.
Also I don't know how common you are assuming Dragon blood is, I doubt its as easy to come by as Lyrium. So reavers aren't constantly looking for their next fix.
Also I would rather gradually go insane, slowly over time than end up like Cullen was or most likely worse.
Everyone ends up insane if they live long enough anyway. And reavers its the fun - kill everything on a ramapage because you are unstoppable kind of insane.
Besides I doubt Inquisitor will live long enough for that to happen - the **** he has to deal with - im guessing a heroic death at some point like Stroud/Hawke

No.
Dragon Blood is immediately damaging, Lyium is not immediately damaging, and takes years to become cumulative, regardless of dosage. The more blood you drink, the worse the effects of the blood are and the quicker they pop up.

My S&S warrior went Champion. With a bunch of points in Vanguard, too, she was absolutely unkillable, even on nightmare. Like she told Bull, "I want to be able to take the hardest blow an enemy can deliver, and laugh." And she did. Taunted mobs and stood there laughing while the mages and rogues cleaned up on DPS.
It's good to be Champion!

Loved Champion, especially against dragons. My companions would all die and it would just be my s+s warrior, with full health and guard hacking and bashing away.
I've struggled with reaver but the fight with the Guardian at the end of the Descent lasted less than two minutes on hard difficulty with my reaver Inquisitor. Based on that alone, I dig it.

I love how powerful it feels everytime you use the dragon claws to hit something.
Wish Spirit blade for KE felt like that.

Templar all the way. Gameplay wise they're a powerhouse. Have your allies inflict a bunch of status effects then 'spell purge', the dps from that alone is insane. Made the battle with Corphyeus (post dragon) less than a minute.

Played all three, champion allows you to solo kill dragons.
What else is there to say, really except...
"It's good to be Champion."
It really is. Reaver was kinda fun but needs support characters. The most effective I made was actually a sword and shield fighter. Went back to champion.

After reading people's opinions, I'm even more divided between Champion & Reaver. I think Reaver has the more cool skills, but Champion seems to be the most useful/practical.... I'm so conflicted. ![]()
I used a lot of Reaver skills in my other DA games, but I never bothered to fight a dragon.... ![]()

Hi, I'm here to say any warrior class can solo anything. Play what u like. Between amulet of barrier off of Fiona and fortifying blast I made an un-killable reaver add the completely broken combat roll and the cheese is glorious. Check the rage n roll thread in http://forum.bioware...uild-ragenroll/combat strategy sub forum. Templar was my second fav. Champion is meh boring . Especially knowing even with fortifying blast and amulet of barrier u can always add a walking fortress ft mat if ur paranoid. Honestly there's no reason to play a champion lol

The only reason why the Theirin family is dragon-blooded is that King Calenhad was a Reaver. That's it.
