I like the British male Inquisitor, Harry Hadden-Paton most, however, closely followed by the British female Inquisitor - Alix Wilton Regan. Although, that might just be because the British male works so well with my Inquisitor, thus I'm playing favourites.

Honestly, I can't stand to listen to the male American Inquisitor. I loved Jon Curry's excellent voice for Zevran, but I just can't use him for my Inquisitor, because I hate the American accent if it's too strong like that (it's particularly bad if they have a screechy voice like I do), and his voice is just too low. However, I'm going to end up using Sumalee Montano for my female qunari. I can't say I like it particularly much, but on the right race, I feel that it should work.

It is fortunate for me that I ended up deciding to play a female qunari (a male DW rogue would just be silly, anyway), because it means I don't have to use the male American voice.

I would have really liked for the male and female Dalish elves to have their own Welsh or Scottish accent, but instead, it looks like I'm going to use Regan's voice twice.

So far, without having played an Inquisitor with Sumalee's voice, my clear favourite is Harry Hadden-Paton (British male). I find he just oozes charisma in every line - each word spoken by him is like silk in my ears. I want to roll naked with his voice in satin sheets, and then grab it by the beard and nibble my way down its back.

Initially I wasn't sure about the British Male voice - I chose it mainly because he's from the Free Marches so couldn't really rectify the American accent with his background (doesn't help that 'American' accents in the Dragon Age world are dwarven accents). However, after a few hours in it started to grow on me, and by the time I hit In Hushed Whispers i couldn't imagine the inquisitor sounding any different.

Although.... It sounds like a 'mage' voice, intellectual and measured. I can't imagine it working on a beefcake 2-h reaver.

Alix Wilton Regan and Harry Hadden-Patton.

And no, not just because they're British. :P

I've only used Alix's voice so far, on a female elf. I don't really like it. It just sounds so bland to me. Even Jo Wyatt's voice from DA2 is better, and she also sounded very bland to me. I'm hoping I'll enjoy Sumalee's voice on a Qunari or dwarven lady much better.

I do agree that Hawke sounded a bit off in this game compaired to in DA2

To be honest, I'm not a fan of either of the female voices. The English voice is too formal, she sounds like a BBC news reporter when speaks. The American voice is a little too...husky for my liking.

Male American Inquisitor - Jon Curry. Which surprised me, before the game came out I was sure that I'll like the Male British one more. I can't stand the Female American one.

This. She takes some warming up to and in the beginning of the game can come across as a bit awkward and stiff. But once her 'authority' sets in, she kills it. When she speaks in a room or gives a command I find myself compelled along with the rest of my party to do as she says. The fact I made her an elf is even better.

Edit: as a side note, anyone planning to play through 4 times to hear each performance in full? I feel like I wouldn't be doing my diligence otherwise.

Really? I sampled her voice and didn't like it at all. Sounded way too flat and emotionless. Good to hear her voice gets better as the game goes on. I'm in my third playthrough right now. 1st character was a human male, British voice, 2nd was a qunari male, American voice, and 3rd is elven female, British voice. American voices seem to fit qunari and dwarves the best, which is why I guess they are default voices for those races.

I do agree that the male British voice is a little bit less fitting for a warrior, but it suits my mage so well.

I also agree that Hawke didn't sound nearly as good in this game.  I hate to complain, but between his voice and his appearance, it was just a bit of a letdown all around.

I like both brits.

Didn't like the male American voice enough to use it and when I did use the american fem voice it was a huge letdown.

Only played femquizzy so far, but I like both voices. The British voice works well for humans. I found I like the American voice for the other races.

It's hard to decide. They all sound like they don't give a rat's ass about anything.

this go around, British.  It sounds less neutral than American neutral, even if it is a bit more neutral than I would prefer.  Neutral.  NEUTRAL.   I am guessing the VA's heard that word a great deal.   :)   I can pretend more emotion with the English inflection though, so I tend to go that route. Even with my Qunari, I use the British (she must have learned English with the BBC ;)  )

I prefer the American voices, both male and female. The British ones are too prissy for my tastes. And I've never actually been a fan of AWR before. Traynor's voice irritated me a lot during ME3.

I miss Jo Wyatt and Nicholas Boulton from DA2. They had a lot of personality.

Indeed they did.

In fact, one might ague they had too much personality. Deviating from the dominant tone for RP purposes often lead to near bipolar behavior. Autodialogue based on the dominant tone, although practical and often great, did not help this at all. I distinctly remember that this was one of the main complaints regarding dialogue in DA2.

The more neutral tones employed by the VA's this time around allow you to alternate between dialogue approaches in a much less convulsed manner.
The American VAs are more stoic compared to their expressive British counterparts but I think that was the intent to mimic the expected tone of the default races.

Nothing will ever beat humorous male Hawke, but at least now I can RP my character in a much more flexible manner without breaking immersion.

As far as the male human goes, the British voice suits warrior perfectly - the fact that he's supposed to be a noble.

For me, the let-down was how hard it was to make a decent Hawke that actually looked like the one you played in DA2. My two Hawkes so far, pretty much suck in comparison to their DA2 counterparts.
