This is my favorite inquisitor voice
Female is better. :>
Female (both are good depending on what you're going for but...)
British > American
Male (both are good depending on what you're going for but...)
American > British
I liked : Female American Inquisitor - Sumalee Montano
She is the one I used for my Qunari and Dwarf . And I love her voice ![]()
Female is better. :>
Male British Inquisitor
I was actually surprised at how well the male englsih accent went with my Inquisitor.
Probably Hadden-Paton is my favorite, but I've enjoyed all four of them, even Montano grew on me despite my negative initial reaction.
Male British Inquisitor.
Alix Wilton Regan is my favourite.
Male British Inquisitor a.k.a Harry Hadden-Paton.
I like the British guy, he didn't have heavy accent, almost not noticeable, enough similar to mine when i speak English so i was able to RP a little better.
American, although he was pretty good VA, his voice was too deep for me and i found it a little distracting.
Jon Curry, the American Male voice actor.
They're all quite good... though I admit Harry Haden-Paton (British Male Inquisitor) was my favorite so far and perfect for my Elven run.
So you got
Male British Inquisitor - Harry Hadden-Paton
Female British Inquisitor - Alix Wilton Regan
Male American Inquisitor - Jon Curry
Female American Inquisitor - Sumalee Montano
For me Alix Wilton Regan was the best, which surprised me a bit, since i wasn't sure after hearing her in ME3. But she has the right balance of passion, emotion and sounding very natural. For me Sumalee Montano and Curry were a bit stiff, and Hadden-Paton seemed to lack emotion in some of the bigger scenes.
I really like Sumalee's voice. I think she gives an authoritative tone that really suits my quizzie
I've only played one character so far but Alix does a tremendous job. Watched that interview with her and she has alot of passion for the role and it really shows.
My next character is going to be a pragmatic hardass Elf and not really sure which voice to choose for her, i ussually pick the sassy and compassionate options with my current character and not sure if she's as good at the colder, "renegade" type options.
Anyone that played with both got any input? Who's the best "renegade" type voice; female amrican or brittish?
First of all apologies for necroing this thread. If I were an attention ******, I'd start my own thread but for this particular topic
I truly don't think that's necessary so hopefully that excuses my seven month necro here...
Anyway, I just want to say that as much as I've loved Sumalee's voice acting in the past, ie Saints Row IV (LOVED her French voice for that), and
Diablo 3 immediately come to mind....
I have to say that for as long as I've played Inquisiton and played it over and over again (x100), I just cannot bring myself to use any other voice than
Alix's because as much as it galls me to say it, I absolutely HATE the American alternative for Inquisition and I'm so sad to acknowledge that this means Sumalee whom I normally adore in past games.
I truly hate it. I've already said this in a different thread but I'll say it again here, if I were to picture the next unattractive bruiser of a bulldyke in the new season of Orange is the New Black, I would expect that character to sound like the American option we have for Inquisition. Ugh, I can't express any more how ugly I find that voice to be and I can't even fathom using it for any character, even a Qunari.
Phew. Apologies to any fans but I just can't sugar coat my dislike for that particular voice whatsoever.
British Female > American Female
American Male > British Male
Alix seemed to be more skilled at capturing all types of emotion flawlessly. She makes it believable. I just don't get that with Sumalee Montano.
I love the American male voice because it's more masculine and warm. I usually prefer American accents anyway.
Female British and Male American. Female American voice is ok too, but Alix seems just more emotional and I love that.
I can't take the British male voice seriously though, and I don't know why. The way he's emphasizing some words just seems so.. Forced? I don't know how to describe it, but I just can't play characters with his voice. His intonation is literally pissing me off, which is pretty stupid on my part, but I can't help it. I've never had such problems with a protagonist's voice before
Alix, for sure. She's so good.
1. Brit male.
2. M'urcin male
3. M'rucin female
4. Brit female.
I think Harry captured the Inquisitor perfectly in every range of emotion and inflection. Jon did alright. He seems to fit a non-human better than Harry. They are almost tied because of this, but I think Harry gave the better performance. Jon seems more "matter of fact" in his speech.
Sumalee, like Jon, fits the non-humans better. She isn't that emotional sounding either, but I still think she's better than Alix. While Alix had more emotion in her voice, I just don't think she delivered the lines that well. She's too soft-spoken in most of the scenes, and she sounds likes she's reading in some cases. Wasn't impressed with her at all.
I love Alix Wilton Regan. I thought she sounded very natural and that really helped to create a believable Inquisitor and an immersive gaming experience for me.
