First of all apologies for necroing this thread.  If I were an attention ******, I'd start my own thread but for this particular topic

I truly don't think that's necessary so hopefully that excuses my seven month necro here...

I've got no problems with it- good thread if you're going to necro one.

It's a shame that logistically there can only really be 2 M, 2 F voices. I'd rather more choice because then I can have a specific voice for more than 4 characters.

As to ranking, I'm almost always a shoo-in for Brit Male, but in DAI I'd say 1. Brit Fem, 2. Amer Male, 3. Brit Male, 4. Amer Fem. The Brit Fem voice has a lot of texture and nuance, and she adds a lot of character to the lines she's reading- reserving her for my dwarf female character... The Amer male has a lot more color and warmth than an Amer male voice usually has in games (usually they sound like men's underwear commercial actors)- great on my dwarf male- and he seems to have more acting range than the Brit Male who pretty much maintains the same, albeit quirkily intellectual-sounding voice throughout. I put the Brit male on my qunari mage but had to scrap that because it was just far too dissonant. Seems to work on an elf or human best. The Amer Fem voice also lacks range and is a bit more generic-sounding- better for a qunari or human probably- but ironically that's the main voice I've been hearing for my elven first character, and I do like it.

I only use the american voice for my Qunari and Dwarf. The elves and humans sound more natural with the British voice.

Sumalee was funny as hell. Her delivery was so dry - I love it.

In a strange alternate reality I once said male British voice. That opinion has been deteriorating for a while but Trespasser locked that **** down. His pain sounded constipated. American guy and Alix are now tied and Sumalee comes a not distant second. Except in some areas where she excels. Like snark.

Now if only I could get my brain to accept the male American voice coming out of an elf body...

I like Sumalee's voice the best. I liked it best at launch, even though it had its ups and downs. Sometimes she was a bit flat, but she brought life to the funniest parts of DA:I with her dry tone and deadpan snark. But she's improved a lot (as it seems like most of them have) in each DLC, and now that I've played Trespasser, I can't think of ever using a different voice. Her delivery is now spot-on for all types of emotion; not flat at all anymore. And her performance as

Spoiler
was phenomenal. It really made you believe that she was actually in an immense amount of anguish. It was scary how good it was   Like, it made me feel bad for the Inquisitor! It actually made me go "Gah!" outloud a couple of times, since I've always felt pain empathy

Other highlights of mine include: Making sarcastic remarks to Sera. "I'm from North Wherever! Oh, we had fun on street and/or local tavern." Teasing Cassandra about her love of romance novels. Everything in Cullen's romance, up to and including

Spoiler
in Trespasser. And most of the middle dialogue options.

So yeah. I thought Sumalee did an amazing job and I don't want to play a new protagonist in the next game since odd are, I won't like her voice as much ^_^

Well, I've only really experienced British Male, but I did love it. The VA was great in this game. Some of the emotion stuff was iffy at times, but all in all I was very satisfied with him.

I can't agree with you, but I have to admit, I love the way she tells Iron Bull goodbye- sounds like she and he have a very amiable relationship. I'll sometimes just say hello to him with my Sumalee elf, knowing he's got no more content to squeeze out of him, just so I can hear "See ya later, Bull."

I personally liked all of them and felt they fit very well with different races. The British one's sounded very good as humans and elves and the American one's suited Qunari and Dwarves very well. Every time I've tried to use the voices differently it's felt so odd and out of place.

I like them all differently, but my favorite is the British male.  Though I'm also especially fond of American female VA, who is the voice of my canon Lavellan.

I think each vo does a great job. But I'd have to pick the male Brit voice. It just worked so well with my snarky elf. And the tone he uses when u can try to bs Bull in the latest dlc was awesome lol

British male. I use that on my "canon"-inquisitor and no one else to make him stand out more  ^_^

I like them all. I wish Jon Curry sounded a little like Zevran again. God, I can't talk to a couple Khajiit NPCs in ESO, without thinking of Zevran. Because Jon does the Zevran voice for them. However, I like Harry Hadden-Paton for an Elf, a young human, or young Dwarf. Jon Curry for a Qunari, or a grizzled Human/Dwarf.

Like them all thus far; English VO for Human and Elves, and American VO for Qunari and Dwarves. And if I understand correctly, the female American VA also does the VO for the leader of the Qunari in Trespasser.

I like all the voices, but I slightly prefer the American voices more because I like the deeper pitch. All that means is that my female humans sound American.

American: male qunari, male dwarves, female humans, female qunari, female dwarves

British: male humans, male elves, female elves

I loved the British Female voice (Alix Wilton Regan), I felt so connected to my Elven Inquisitor thanks to her.

I can't take Hadden-Paton srsly when he's angry. And he's sooo incredibly plummy!

Other than that minor quibble, I think they're all pretty great.

That's funny, I actually really don't like the way she says that. I end up skipping the line! It's just... weird. I was never that friendly with Bull. More importantly, it sounds really odd after having a conversation with him, since most of them have a hugely different tone and the abrupt switch is jarring.

I know. You're so right: my character doesn't have anywhere near such an intimate relationship with Bull either- nearly ignored him entirely for most of the game. But I just love the sound of her voice on that line. It's so affectionate that I don't get jarred by it, just enamored. I'd certainly like her talking that way to me. I'm playing her as compassionate anyway, so it sort of fits regardless.

I prefer the American male voice for every race besides Elf, and I would never play a male elf anyway so...

English VA is too nasal and too passive for my tastes.

Ah, I see where you're coming from now. Yeah, she says it well, even if it's an odd line.

English ones just fit better in my opinion to bad there wasn't a welsh or Scottish ones to fit the elf and dwarf

Dwarves aren't Scottish in Thedas. Which is good because that cliche is played out.
