Unsurprisingly, I prefer the American voices for Qunari and Dwarves, and the British VA for Elves and Humans.
I played a Male Qunari, Female Dwarf, am now playing a female Elf, and plan for a male Human.

Dwarves aren't Scottish in Thedas. Which is good because that cliche is played out.
But the Scottish accent is the greatest accent in the world.

Better petition Bioware to make the next PC from Starkhaven, then. That's where people have Scottish accents.
I prefer the female british voice, Alix Wilton Regan, BUT her voice seems to fit best with a human female rather than any other race for me. Its probably just a personal thing, I wish there was a more Merill like voice for elven female though but I do understand there's limits to what they can put into a game.

Same here, though I Alix Wilton Regan delivered a way better job in terms of emotion. But I play mostly with Harry Hadden-Paton's voice, because I tend to play more as a male in Bioware games because of the gay romances.

It would be more Scottish, if you had the option to visit a tavern in starkhaven and purchase a deep fried confectionery.

As an American I think the best accent in the world is..... Female Australian.

Male American by far. Followed by female American, then male English, then female English.
Wait, what? There are other voices than Alix's?
I haven't noticed.
Just bringing this thread back to life because i was actually searching to see if there was a thread that addressed the male voices. It seems that the female voives get a lot more love then the male voices do.
That being said, i always go with the American male. I'm a male, i'm American so of course i want my character to sound just like me. There are so many accents in the game that it's nice to hear something different when i talk.

The original plan for DAO was to give Dwarves German accents, but they couldn't find enough voice actors. But the Scottish accent is the greatest accent in the world.

Thats kind of awesome
British male voice suited perfectly for my first mage Inquisitor who I roleplayed as a rather sarcastic, witty individual who was reluctant to act like an authoritative figure.
American voice took some time to get used to but now I think it suits perfectly for my warrior who's a bit aggressive, no-nonsense type of guy who's very focused on what's required of him. I must agree with BigBad that there's some real gravity about that voice which the british one lacks.
Still, I can't really say which one of the male voices I prefer since both fit well for different type of characters. Usually I'm all for british accent but the delivery is what matters here.
When it comes to female voices... I think I actually prefer the american one. I have noticed that it works really well with both sarcastic and aggressive dialogue. I for example loved the deadpan delivery of the "Oh... great." after Harding told the Inquisitor what sort of stories people tell about her. The british voice is a bit too... soft-spoken and delicate for my tastes. Or maybe I just happened to create the type of characters who were ill-fitted to this particular voice. I dunno. =P
I've used the British vioces but not the American ones yet was thinking of going American male on my Qunari mage though and was thinking I might do a dwarven rogue one soon as well where I use the American female voice. That won' tbe until I set up histories for them though.
If elves i'm going British
If human/dwarf i'm going American
British male
Male British, perfect voice for my Inquisitor.
Male British, Male American.
Not to disparage the female VA's, but the male's really knocked it out of the park this time around. It's a shame, because I've played more females due to the expanded romance options on their side.

Same. I really like HHP's treatment of the role.

I totally agree, although when it comes to the sarcastic responses (which I use most of the time because... that's just me), I have to admit I like the Male American just a tad more than the Male British. I had played two Inquisitors with the Male British voices back to back then played one with the Male American voice and a few lines that had me smiling with the British voices had me laughing with the American one. It's amazing what a small change in tone or inflection makes. I never really paid it any attention until I played these games.
In my own opinion, the Female American voice was a bit lackluster for me. To me she came across as bored, flat and emotionless most of the time which was a shame because I liked the way her voice sounded.
