Excess Inquisition Power: What to do with it?

As we know, you keep accumulating Power even after you've completed all the available War Table missions that use Power.

But I'd love to be able to use that Power for something useful. It feels like a waste to have this resource that we can't use.

So, here's a suggestion for use of Power in the future. On the War Table, when you have the choice between Orlais and Ferelden, have a third option below that for "Power Plays". This would unlock AFTER you have completed the main story. Instead of zooming in on the map, it would give you a menu of options (similar to choosing Inquisition Perks).

All of these are "Repeatable", like the Gather Coin quest. As an optional component, maybe Power costs would increase each time an operation was repeated.

1.) GAIN FAVOR: Spend X Power to impress/intimidate local nobles, and gain a certain amount of coin.

2.) GAIN PRESTIGE: Spend X Power to get a new Inquisition Perk.

3.) GATHER ORE: Spend X Power to gain a certain amount of Tier 3 ores.

4.) GATHER LEATHER: Spend X Power to gain a certain amount of Tier 3 leather.

5.) GATHER CLOTH: Spend X Power to gain a certain amount of Tier 3 cloth.

6.) GATHER HERBS: Spend X Power to gain a certain amount of Tier 3 herbs.

7.) FADE RESEARCH: Spend X Power to gain a single random Fade-Touched resource.

8.) LURE DRAGON: Spend X Power to cause one of the dragons to respawn.

I avoided using any specific values, because the system would obviously need to be balanced appropriately.

Any other ideas/suggestions? I'm trying to avoid anything that would require coding in new objects, items, or areas. This is intended as a way to use Power with the already-existing framework.

OOOH! Dragon Respawn? Yes please! Can we add giant respawning too. Those suckers are funny to fight in groups :)

Oh, and more perks.

Hmm..  come to think about it, Power is easier to get than Perks. Perhaps the game is NOT balanced?

The idea is obviously that they don't want to make it too hard to get power for story missions - I mean, if you had to gather all the power from the Hinterlands before you can get to Val Royeaux, and then get all the power in the Stormcoast/Fallen Mire before you can get the templars/mages I doubt anyone would complete the game.

I believe they should simply add the option of skipping the waiting time of the wartable missions by using certain amount of power. That would work to get materials, money, etc, as a lot of missions are already about that.

Since you can easily get free unlimited power and influence from about midgame, it would be too easy to get unlimited resources and dragon respawns. I'd like dragon respawns anyway for more materials, but using a resource which you can get an unlimited amount of to do it doesn't really fit.

Some of these options are nice, I guess, but I really think there should be less power given than at present. It makes sense the Inquisition gains in power when you do major things like capture a fortress, close fade rifts, defeat a high dragon, strike a blow against Corypheus in the main story line, ... but right now every time the inquisitor farts, you get a "+X power" message. It makes no sense, and unlocking something by spending power on the wartable gives me no sense of achievement whatsoever because after going through the first 3 zones or so I am already sitting at +100 WITHOUT even doing any of the repeatable requisition missions. Gaining power should feel more special and I'm afraid adding some generic things to spend power on will not make that happen.

Adding a special shop where you spend power to acquire extremely rare and exotic weapons from the furthest reaches of Thedas would work. Items could be priced at 1-20 power, to represent the huge resource investment required to source these items.

Emphasis on the items could be on unique appearance or story relevance, rather than just making them game-breakingly good. They could also be aggressively level-gated to prevent over-powering low-level Heralds.

Personally I'd like to be able to use power to further customize my organization. For example the combination of the use of power and also all those requisitions could be used to outfit the soldiers with better equipment. With better equipment perhaps they could do resource gathering or other similar mission more effectively. Naturally I'd like to see larger scale battles that also feature the average joe troops as well, but that I expect is more DLC/expansion territory.

Also in that case it would be nice to see an actual visible difference in your troops gear as they evolve. Neverwinter Nights 2 had a similar thing where you could see your keep's soldiers slowly go from wearing padded leather, then chainmail, and then piling on the plate. Naturally I'd also like to change their colour scheme to my own personal taste. I've already said in another thread that I can't abide the combination of orange and green that our soldiers wear when my Inquisitor looks like a boss in his dragonling scale red leather greatcoat.

Spend it on a torture chamber for Orlesians and all those who play the Game?

Maybe it was the intention to use power for Skyhold/Keep/Inquisition customization before they cut it. I can't I'magine that the sheer amount of excess power is intended in it's current form.

I like the idea of using Power to get a shipment of common, uncommon, or rare materials such as herbs, metals, or cloth/leather, because spending an Inquisition perk on those is a total waste of a perk and makes those perks totally useless, spending Power on them makes more sense.

But more so, Power should have been used to upgrade Skyhold, even after finishing the game, Skyhold still has holes in the walls, unfinished rooms, towers still in bad shape, etc. and like 300+ Power still left over, would have been a perfect something to spend Power on, both during and after beating the game.

Best is to avoid all those requisition missions, rift closures etc. Just do enough to move the story along.

Having just beat the game myself I'd like something like this. Though honestly I felt like I was running out of uses for power well before the final battle. Being able to turn it into gold or gear or something would be useful. I also like the idea of dragon respawn or keep upgrades...

I wonder if they can do proceduraly generated dragons (in terms of abilities etc.)

Brilliant idea. I'd love to see it implemented. I ended the game with 300+ power on my completionist playthrough.

Power, skyhold all seem to be absolutely pointless. Honestly i think i like my simple party camp, easier to find companions and talk to them no useless running around. SKyhole is a lag filled place with completely useless stuff like an inflated normandy and still serves no purpose. Explain to me how anyone even gets to sky hold as outside its main gate is a mountain drop.

So looks pretty as a location but functionally useless and pointless padding.

Or they have plans on the use of the extra power and being able to use skyhold in future expansions/ DLC's. IMO they purposely cut content in order to use it later on, which I don't mind at all. It keeps future playthroughs more interesting.
