I must applaud Bioware with for the romance options as it was a good first step in the right direction, I loved Cullen's cute awkwardness and how Blackwall constantly felt unworthy of your affections as if you were some sort of goddess, I did feel Solas was a bit full of himself though and Iron Bull felt more like a casual fling.

If I were to make a suggestion I would probably have to say it would be nice if the romances felt a bit more empowering for the women, it would be nice if we could have a polygamous relationship with 2 or more of the romance options (for instance the ability to form relationships with both Cullen and Dorian at the same time (a little disappointed I was not able to get with Dorian)) and it would be nice to see your companions compete more for your affections.

I was also a little disappointed with the options for male Inquisitors, I felt they were a little too pretty and quite frankly a little easy, it would be nice to see them play harder to get and even spurn the main character's advances more often as surely the writers can come up with better reasons for the female companions to be in the game other than as eye candy for the male players.

All in all it was a good step in the right direction, so who was your favorite romance in Inquisition and what would you like to see in the series future?

Clearly you didn't do the Cassandra romance. You first few flirting attempts are met with "disgusted noise" or slight dissaproval. Winning her affection certainly wasn't easy. And Josephine basically didn't even know you were hitting on her until Leliana mentioned it halfway through the game.

As far as appearances go, I agree they were attractive but I wouldn't say unrealistically so. In fact many people on this forum find Josie and Cass to be ugly, since they're not supermodel Mass Effect companions.

Favorite romance though? Having done both Cass and Josies so far, it's really hard to decide. Though I'd probably go with Josephines as it feels more natural with the progression compared to Cass, and the ending is your typical disney happily ever after ending which was a nice shift from the other romances which were left with ambiguity.

Yeah there's probably a dozen threads about the appearances of the female companions and I'd really like to not have to discuss it one way or the other; they are what they are. Part of me wants to stab this thread for inevitably reviving it again.

I liked the fact that Dorian wasn't into me but still willing to entertain my flirting. And I liked that I could do so without Cullen going apeshit jealous on me. And that an ex-templar and Tevinter mage can come together to play chess.

Well, I'm still on playthrough one, so I can't really say which is favorite yet.  I rolled a female qunari to follow up lady Tabris and aggro-mage man Hawke, and had her go with Bull.  It starts off feeling fling-ish, but has some touching moments after Demands of the Qun, and making the necklace.  I also thought it was cute when you confront him about past adventures.

Cassandra is the best in Inquisition. Her romance would be better if I was actually able to watch the poetry and candles scene and not skip it all because Bioware didn't feel the need to bug test the game.

I think thats a platform related bug, I've been on PC and romanced her twice without any bugs in that scene. Been seeing that mostly from console people.

I don't really know if I would request more full-blown romances, but I would have like to see more flirts available.  For example, Maryden the bard, Josie's sister at Halamshiral, etc.  I also really liked the one Charger pretending not to be a mage.  I wish the core Chargers were available to talk to outside of cutscenes instead of just Krem all the time (who spends as much time standing on his chair in the tavern as sitting on it, lol).

Oh really? Sorry I did not know that this was a commonly talked about issue on these forums but it is good to see that gamers are finally stepping up in requesting more realistic and empowering portrayals of females. I still think it is good to talk about such issues as while Inquisition does make many steps forward in this regard I still feel Inquisition is catering a little too hard to the heterosexual male audience that believe that females should only be included in the game as eye candy to serve as conquests to assert their character's sexual prowess.

I did the Dorian one with my Qunari Rogue and thought it was incredibly sweet for the most part. A really nice, personal romance arc. It felt very natural after the Mage recruitment quest with his 'don't worry, I'll protect you' to this 8-foot-tall horned guy.

Planning to try out Solas on my second run. Can't speak to the others.

I'd say Blackwall's is the best. Sera is easily the cutest companion, but her romance is a little underwhelming. None of yhe romances really blew me away in this one, though; certainly nothing as sweet as Zevran's.

I want a companion who approaches you first, and I want an asexual companion.

Josephine so far. Thus far it sounds like you're interested in traditionalist courting and what have you though. If I wanted real life, I'd go to real life.

Got to see Varric cry about Hawke's death in a silky smooth 30 frames per 15 seconds.

Future Romances:

Scout Harding

Empress Celene if she is alive

I also agree with the polygamy idea. Or being able to hook up and not get into committed relationships, just pure casual sex like Geralt from the Witcher.

We're all in agreement about a dwarf romance in the next game, right?

Ha!  I actually agree with you on this, but I think you misinterpreted that other post.  The common talk is the opposite of what you are asking for.  But that's probably not best to bring up again, in fear of coaxing that very discussion out of the woodwork.

For me, I've only done Dorian's romance, but it was really fantastic.  It's in my top two m/m Bioware romances of all time.  Well written.  Fun.  Snarky.  Happy ending, if you choose it.  Well done, Gaider.

For future games, I'd like to see more of the typically 'masculine' male love interests to be available to male characters.  It's why I'm so excited to do Bull's romance.  He's a big, masculine, burly warrior and he's into other guys.  That's awesome to me.  I would love to see more of that and less thin human/elf mage/rogue guys.  I want the DA4 version of Blackwall for us!

For female LI's, I'd really like to see a stereotypical 'butch' option for f/f romances.  I feel like Bioware is a bit scared to pull the trigger on this one because it will feel like stereotyping.  What's happened, though, is that all of the f/f options have been soft and feminine.  That's fine, but it would be great to see another representation as well.  When Sera is the 'butchest' of the f/f options, you know something's a bit off.

Oh, and it can't be said enough.  DWARF ROMANCE PLEASE.  While I'd prefer a guy, I think there is a fantastic opportunity in a spunky little red-haired ball of murder to return and fill that role.   Just sayin'.......

Favorite romance is Cullen :) , hands down. I had been enjoying the Solas romance until I got to the spoiler you mentioned. I am just not a fan of bittersweet stories, especially in DA romances.

Well what about Cullen being the stereotypical hunkster "perfect" guy type that I bet most women playing DA:I romanced? See, I actually liked Cullen because he filled that role. Didn't bother me a bit.

The lyrium addiction plot was put in to kick him down a notch from being so perfect but even then it was portrayed as not being his fault. If we can have the Cullens then we can have some buxom babes for the young guys out there. I dont see the problem.

Though I definitely enjoy Sera's I suspect that Cassandra would be my favorite overall. She's easily one of the best companions if not the best to me.
