Yeah there's probably a dozen threads about the appearances of the female companions and I'd really like to not have to discuss it one way or the other; they are what they are. Part of me wants to stab this thread for inevitably reviving it again.

Well, if you take Cassandra for example, she clearly isn't the stereotypical beauty romance option. Her face is as hard as her personality. But when she does smile, she becomes one of the cutest girls in the DA universe, if not the cutest. And I think we should give credit to the designers for making this happen.

Oh really? Sorry I did not know that this was a commonly talked about issue on these forums but it is good to see that gamers are finally stepping up in requesting more realistic and empowering portrayals of females. I still think it is good to talk about such issues as while Inquisition does make many steps forward in this regard I still feel Inquisition is catering a little too hard to the heterosexual male audience that believe that females should only be included in the game as eye candy to serve as conquests to assert their character's sexual prowess.

You have to be joking. Heterosexual males have two romance options, one of which is a strong-willed, extraordinarily driven woman who can handle herself without help from anyone and especially without a male to protect her. I don't know how this portrayal could be more empowering for women. Perhaps you should get your facts straight before insulting people for 5+ pages. I Read all of your rants but won't bother to quote everything you spat, this post alone defeats your argument.

I think you mean Krem

Yes Krem da LA creme. Said in another thread. Will reiterate. Want Krem romance. Don't care on his preference. I'll RP it.

On topic. First time I LI sera. Lots of fun. Second play was Josie. I thought it was adorable in a good way. Professing your love during the duel... so sweet. I don't think she needs nude scene.

I LOVE how all the romances are different and play out according to the LI personality. That is AMAZING. You know... like life. Everyone is different. Every relationship is different

Started 3rd game with intention of romancing Cass but Dorian
... so good. I'm torn

So what exactly? Clearly game developers have been failing somewhere as the majority of people on the planet (who are not cismales) don't buy the way your minority group does. Is that your point?

No, I do not believe you. How "sexy" is Hillary Clinton or Melinda Gates or Janet Napolitano or Indra Nooyi or Ginni Rometty? You need to seriously rethink your idea of power if Media Celeb is your standard.

In bad teenage angst poetry, maybe. In reality men are not so pathetic and helpless as that.

No, it's not. "Sexy" is not a display of power, it is a display of "sexy". Slave-Leia was "sexy" and is an icon of powerlessness. While it is certainly true that "being sexy" does not automatically have to objectify a character in practice it is almost always the case.

Nonsense. Literature and media influence attitudes. Real attitudes. Therefore people who care about how our society treats people need to care about how people are represented.

And here we go again.. Honestly at this point this isn't even worth a rebuttal. No matter what the facts are, some people will always stick to their preconceived notions.

Hell Cassandra even goes so far as to call herself your protector if you romance her. But then again that can't be possible, the patriarchy and all that.

Yeah, I think I painted my current quizzy into foreveralonequizzy (wanted Solas romance, missed a cue, then turned down several others not realizing I missed the cue ... want to do Bull but only on one side of his character arc) ... might restart again.  Curse you bioware! (in a good way).

I've spoken about this and don't want to seem like I'm bashing the man, but Iron Bull's romance was a huge disappointment for me.  The first time yet in a Bioware game where my gut instinct regarding the options wasn't the love interest for me.  I dislike the fact that they made it into a dom/sub relationship not because Bull wanted to dominate...but because my Inquisitor "needed" to be dominated.  Very off-putting to be told what I sexually & emotionally need.

That being said, Solas is solidly my #1 choice.  Easy.  Can't wait for any additional content we receive in DLCs/expansions - that would be my only future request for Bioware at the moment...give us more Solas!

Seriously, Dragon Age 2 made an attempt at the strong woman stereotype and ended up with Aveline, which (IMO) was insufferable. Dragon Age Inquisition manages to bring a female character and romance option that is both strong, deep and cute, when the time is right.

What's very sad with Lady-Stoneheart, is that she attacks people because they are males, and fails to see how that makes her as bad as the "patriarchy", if not worse.

I'm getting ready to do the Bull romance in my second playthrough and I'm a little concerned about it.  I'm not much of a 'sub' in real life and, while I know that I'm also not a dwarf with the power to close Fade Rifts, it might be a little hard for me to get into that romance.  I'm definitely willing to give it a try, but it just doesn't seem like my dwarf is the type of guy who wants (or, more specifically, needs) that in a relationship.  I'm willing to wait to see how it plays out before I make my final verdict though.

That being said, I think it's kind of interesting that they decided to go this route with one of the romances.  It's not my thing, but it's certainly someone's thing and it's nice to see that they are branching out a bit from the typical romance formula that they've relied on in many other games.  While it might not have hit the mark for me this time, it makes me excited to think that, in the future, they might be more likely to 'experiment' and end up giving me exactly what I am looking for in a m/m romance.  That's kind of refreshing.

So true, Cass is such an improvement over Aveline.

That is the nature of misandrists I'm afraid. Her vulgar statements aren't hate speech, yet me calling her out for not providing a single shred of evidence to go along with her accusations of me somehow is.

And here we go again..

And always will. Every single time this particular nasty little mole pokes it's head up it needs to be whacked back down. Every. Single. Time. As long as people keep showing up and equating a woman's worth with how attractive men find her (or any of the other themes) then someone should stand up and say "No." Every. Single. Time. If you are growing tired of hearing the "No" then stop saying such pernicious things.

Said no feminist, ever.

I don't mind the Dom/Sub portion, I just don't like that Bull staunchly refuses via dialogue to play any other role for you.  He tells you that you need to be dominated because that's what he's evaluated as a Ben-Hassrath agent who knows so much about what people need sexually & emotionally.  He's very capable of having sex in any way or fashion, that's clear as he does so with other women in the game, but he insists on prescribing this specific "need" to the Quizzie that I just can't be comfortable with.

If it were his kink, sure, lets open up a dialogue and I can decide on my own if I'm willing to submit to you.  But don't insist that I need to submit because we are going to have a problem.

EDIT - I feel like I need to be wagging a cane in the air as I re-read this, haha.  Disappointment makes me grumpy.

Cullen was great, haven't tried any others yet but Solas' seem good in vids. Josephine too, so adorable.

Kinda wanted to atleast be able to flirt with Krem.

For future? Please devs, ignore all requests and just make the characters you want to make. Add romance to them only if it makes sense for the character.

But see the thing is, no one said a woman's worth was measured in their attractiveness. So, try again perhaps?

Strawman is appropriate, because thats exactly the sort of argument you're engaging in. At least you're aware of that much.

That strawman picture is more fitting to use on ladystoneheart. Because thats what she built with his posts. I support equality not hate based on what sex you have and that goes for everyone.
