I know this has been mentioned before but I had difficulty defeating the big guy and had to turn it to Casual.

My party is Me(bowwoman) Sera, Vivienne and Cassandra.  Should I have brought Iron Bull instead of Sera or another Mage instead of Sera?  I could use another potion crate there's just two right?  I didn't actually beat the big guy but just turned the aiming thing on the trebuchet.  I didn't want to go all the way back to change parties is there a change party thing in the Chantry?

Thoughts?

How is your Cassandra setup?

I did the fight at level 7 on normal.

One key thing to this fight is you can win it by activating the Trebuchet. Have your Tank keep mobs away and keep an eye on the Trebuchet. Interact with it every time you are able.

I beat it at level 9 on Nightmare with me as a lightning mage, vivienne as an ice mage (both with barrier) sera as an archer and blackwall as a tank. Just freeze the group/lightning net them and then get blackwall to taunt them and keep shield up... sera just nukes...mages barrier him = win :)

I played as a mage and used a 2-tank party with a second mage for barriers, and no rogue.  Set one tank's behavior to defend me.

This allowed me to ignore the templars and just aim the catapult.

I did this with Cass as a heavy tank setup with bodyguard and defense focus, Solas with a heavy spirit tree focus, and Iron Bull with auto level, since I am the party rogue. I just outright killed him first before worrying about the trebuchet. Make sure you take the smaller ones first with focus fire. He's pretty beefy, but as long as you have a strong tank and keep positioned well, you should be alright. I don't even think I went through all my potions in this fight, though I was at the same level as the mobs and not a few under like most people. What level was your party at?

Oh I'm playing on Hard.  My Cassandra has shield bash, but doesn't have lunge and slash.  Uh don't remember the armor and weapon.  There not that great.

Contrary to popular belief: There will not be an endless spawn of enemies. Every 4 turn 2 enemies spawn, and every 8(or is it 12?) a bunch of enemies come. There are 3 of the big groups. You can easily turn 4 times, kill 2 enemies, turn 4 times, kill 2 enemies, turn some more, take care of group and repeat it.

- Each group seem to contain a mix of ranged, melee and tank mobs. The priority with the red templar are the Knights that turn other red templars into abominations. Have Cassandra get aggro of the bulk, and try to get rid of any archers/ranged as quickly as possible.

- The last guy, the behemoth, is easy enough. He can be frozen. This means as long as cassandra gets aggro of him, you can get rid of all the smaller enemies and you can CC him. Even if he does kill somebody, you can freeze him and proceed to resurrect your dead party.

For builds:

Your tank: Build for all the passives in the sword and shield tree. 20% damage reduction is huge! 50% less damage from ranged at front? huge! Then get both taunts (War cry and challenge) in Vanguard. Upgrade War cry. You should also get the 20% armor passive in vanguard. Then end it with Grappling hook and possibly Combat roll in Battlemaster.

Your mage: Build heavy into spirit for barrier. The resurrect is pretty nice to have! I have had times where my whole team but solas is dead, at the same spot, and he get them all up in a few second! Also, get Winter's grasp. Important CC!

Your ranged dps: Get Stealth, then get the whole right tree of archery. I also get posion + its upgrade. Stealth is important, obviously!

I do like to get the end-ability of the archery tree, just so I can quickly go over to Varric, target an archer/mage, use it and go back to my inquisitor. That ranger/mage is dead once Varric is done shooting.

Yourself: Do whatever.

Two mages is always a good idea, and even better if they both have dispel and barrier.

For the final showdown, as others have mentioned, turn the wheel until you see red dots and then stop and kill them. Once they are dead, you will be out of combat and able to quick save before turning the wheel again.

On normal I (an archer) literally ignored everything and just kept turning wheel. My party AI, tank and two mages, handled everything else. Guard and barrier is pretty broken on normal. I'm doing nightmare now and guard, well, not so much. I haven't done that part yet but I've already learned guard is not nearly as useful. Barriers are still a must though.

Good job throwing a heavy spoiler into this forum.

You should have used the Spoiler forum.

Uh Combat and Strategy has always been  a spoiler forum.  I guess you not suppose to put it in the title if you can help it. But that is weird that they edited it.
