Whenever I enter a fight with a Dragon in Dragon Age the Dragon does nothing but play its idle animation and stand still in the spot it started combat at. No buffing itself, no attacks, no spells, no fire, absolutely NOTHING. This continues until it dies, or perhaps it breathes fire at the beginning of the battle but then stands still and does nothing for the very rest. I have tried re-loading saves over and over or tried restarting the battle but the same stuff always happens. I have no idea why this could possibly happen, I've installed the game and played it with no problems before and my computer handles the game perfectly. What could possibly cause this bizzarre problem? Even if I move my characters away and have them do nothing it doesn't chase me or anything.

What makes this worse, the archdemon is a dragon right? So this stupid problem will happen when I fight it too I presume, so I need to get this fixed!

Help!

I tried re-loading the save just now before the High Dragon, and it did use slap and shred at the beginning of the battle I think, but nothing after like I detailed in the first post. I don't think there is any easy way to fix this, I've tried most of the simple attempts at fixing the problem. And yes, I have my game patched as much as I can. I have all of the available DLC, and to make matters worse I can not find one single person that has had this same problem. Great.

EDIT: I reinstalled the game and it works, but what a pain this problem was. I wonder what caused it, and it must be a really rare bug.

I had this happen once. I was trying to be all bad ass and kill the thing on nightmare mode. The thing stood there and did nothing as I hacked it down to nothing. I read somewhere there's a way to "glitch" the dragon. I have never tried it, but maybe that was the issue? I think it has something to do with where you party stands and where the dragon ends up. Not sure though.
