Everyone in the industry uses customers as QA testers, even the "holy" indie developers...especially the indie developers...
I don't believe that Nintendo uses customers as QA testers.

That's what their marketing wants you to think.

No... I think he's right. Nintendo has no idea which side is up at this point.

They're still making great games that do not suffer from these problems.

TL;DR Software bugs are very complex issue to get rid of and pinpoint(at times they are easy but take time)
Maybe I didn't read everything, but I don't see a Carmack quote in here ![]()
Agree with you pretty much on everything (you know more than I do) but I will say this: one "problem" with Assassin's Creed and iteration is that three titles are in development at one time. That means, there might be something that winds up in one game but is totally absent in others being developed at the same time. However the fact that there's a year between each release means that it something really hits it off, they probably have time to insert it into the game in some manner. So it's a mixed bag.

They did the same thing with Unity a few weeks ago. What the hell is going on at Ubisoft?
They've been doing it since Brotherhood they patched that game and managed to break the SP and MP at the same time, twice. Then they threw their hands up in the air and said "Stuff it! I give up!"

Also, that guy is right. Trying to fix their framerate issues by removing some of the rendered elements.
They should have established that a long time ago though.

The game should have never seen the light of day if they couldn't get the game running at 30fps consistently. IMO, anything below 30fps in 2014 is pretty embarrassing and it's a shame that so many console gamers put up with it.

I think they need to add an extra 6 month period to their dev cycle.
It might improve the end product but it would be up for debate if it would be considerably.

I honestly don't think an extra six months would do much for them. When you have people who are determined to put graphics ahead of gameplay, this is what you end up with.

This is a nonsensical statement, both because Ubisoft fundamentally updated all three pillars, thereby showing that they ARE in fact committed to gameplay, and because Unity's problems have nothing to do with graphics but with technical things.
Graphics is higher res textures, better ambient occlusion, anti-aliasing/downsampling. Unity doesn't have issues with those things. It has issues with technical things--like the number of NPCs, a face disappearing, etc.
Unity is buggy because of technical things, not graphical things.

Gameplay was good, graphic was crappy by 2001/2 standards. Might and Magic fans almost rioted on the internet because of this.

I was referring to the frame rate, which is bad because of all those NPC's and high end effects that the consoles obviously can't handle in an open world setting. It should have been scaled back, but it wasn't because they put graphics ahead of gameplay.

True. But how many games that come out today have terrible graphics? Even the bad games have great graphics these days.

The lighting for one.

The lighting for one.
Um...most of the lighting in that game is pre-baked. So while it looks great, that's just a case of the game calling that lighting from your hard drive, then displaying it. That's not having a huge effect on your GPU.
Take your pick. I don't really care. My point is that the new consoles can't handle the game in it's current configuration. It should have been scaled back to achieve a consistent 30fps and then released. People would have bitched about the downgrade in graphics, sure. But Ubisoft already has a reputation for downgrading their games from the initial reveal to release.

As I said in a different thread: d*mned if you do, d*mned if you don't.

You know, I made that blog and I have little desire to type anything up lately. I find it easier to say what I want to say in a forum post.

I understand. And here you've got an audience automatically, you don't have to drum it up.
But my advice is to take all the stuff you put on here (or elsewhere), think about it and look at other people's comments, then post it there in a more "complete" form. As well as other stuff unrelated to Bioware or whoever.
Thanks. I'll give that a shot.
Ubi is pathetic, and if I'm allowed to, I'll post a link about some Guillemot and an ex Ubi employee declarations. Just quote me to tell me if I can post links or I can get banned for that.
Anyway, if I can't, just type this on google "90% are pirates anyway"
