I think you've been overlooking everything I've posted and are just assuming that I'm homophobic when I'm not.

Everything you've posted is the reason I'm saying what I'm saying.

Look man, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but you're presenting a pretty big target. Old church lady says there are rumors about you and a tevinter mage here in southern thedas and it's something you ought to think about, and you jump straight (ha!) to "she thinks I'm gay." Pretty much no one cares about homosexuality in that part of the world, as evidenced by there being no consequence whatsoever for a lesbian inquisitor romance, for example. It doesn't matter.

But you think it's about ghey, because that's what Dorian is. And maybe, to you, that's all he is? Or that's the most important thing about him? That's one reason I think what I think about you. Another is the fact that you just assume she'd be uncomfortable even speaking the words, because hey? who isn't. Well, Dutch, the answer to "who isn't" is, pretty much everybody.

So yeah, this whole she thinks I'm gay thing...this is the part of you that is Mother Giselle telling you not to get a boner when Dorian's around. And while he does have a pretty epic ass, I'm here to tell you, as a straight guy, it's perfectly safe to be around him.

OP, most people read politics from that scene. How you read gay is beyond me.
If false perceptions of your character and habits from NPCs of a video game bother you this much, I feel bad for how you must cope in the real world, where many people assume many false things about everyone on a daily basis.

Why is Gizzele coy about revealing what the rumor is? It's obviously a alliance of a sexual nature.

@Dutch: And you're ignoring anyone who tells you that a gay relationship is not the impression they got from it.

You start off asking - then when someone says it's not about being gay - you say: "Well it probably was though because..."

You're ignoring the posts of some who do think the rumor is conveying something of a sexual nature.

I don't know man, seems alot more people in here interpreted it as the inquisitor having an alliance with a Tevinter mage.

I definitely read it as Mother Giselle implying that we had a relationship, because as soon as she left, I told Dorian "But I'm with Josephine!"

I find it very interesting, and am glad that there's that bit of tension.

I hope BW gives us a DLC tool to change the appearance of our Inquisitor so I can make him look more like Kevin Bacon in Beauty Shop.

This game is a pretty long game, so I wouldn't be surprised if most here recalled it or weren't paying attention. I posted this thread just after that because it seemed really weird, no?

See, here's a bit of context that actually matters.

Why are you so offended Spankatola? You could just ignore my whole thread if you feel hurt?

Like, it's definitely about the implications that Dorian and I are a couple.  Why else am I suddenly bringing up Josie.

I'm not offended, just participating in the discussion. But again, it's interesting you'd just assume that my stance means I'm offended. You make a lot of assumptions.

Also I edited a post of mine at the very top of this page, unfortunately after you had quoted it, so I apologize for that. But if you re-read it, you might gain some insight into where I'm coming from.

That's VERY interesting. I didn't get that dialog, but I wasn't in a relationship with anyone when it occurred. Had you chosen any flirty dialog options with him in the past?

True enough, I did see a video of the scene about three days ago and even with it being a romance I still interpreted the rumors as being about Dorian being a Tevinter mage.

Dave, if the rumor was about the inquisition's alliance with Dorian then don't you think Bioware conveyed that horribly? For one, it's about the Inquisitor and Dorian, not the inquisition and Dorian. Also, Ragabul hit the nail on the head when he said the scene displayed a sexual undertone, or in my case a HOMOSEXUAL undertone even when my inquistior didn't initate a romance with Dorian and has one with Cass, as well as not clicking those heart-romance options in all the dialogue my inquisitor had with Dorian.

I sum it up as either a scene poorly done by Bioware or a scene that is bugged and their was suppose to be something, less ghey perhaps.

Also, I'm not offended, just a little annoyed that the peasants of thedas think I'm a poofter now.

I actually just think you are overreacting to it.  It might be vague enough for you to have multiple interpretations of it.  It wasn't that way for everyone.  There is enough ambiguity to the situation that it can be taken in multiple ways.  The main issue I with your OP is that you immediately take a "Oh well, and here Dorian was turning out to be an alright character, but now I am obliged to be offended and dislike the character because of the way that I'm personally choosing to interpret the scene."

Maybe she is insinuating that you are gay (Not ghey.  GAY.  Type it.  It's good for you.)  Maybe she isn't.  She's an old church lady who is concerned about the image of the Inquisition.  I genuinely  don't think she cares if you are gay.  There's nothing in the Chantry or Ferelden or Orlais to make that scandalous.  The scandal would be if the leader of Chantry-affiliated organization were to be buddy buddy with a heretic

And, even if she were insinuating that you are gay and having gay sex with Dorian, why is that Dorian's fault.  In your OP, you claim that you actually liked the character until that moment.  Well, what the hell did he do to get you mad at him?  He was just chilling in the library, making Cassandra think he was talking about her, and minding his own business.  If you want to get mad at a character, get mad at the little old church biddy who feels the need to poke her nose in your personal life.

At least that's my interpretation on it.  YMMV.

Yeah, I'd pretty much flirted with everyone at that point, but had just begun a relationship with Josephine.

It's possible that Giselle implies different things depending on your relationship status and gender choice.

Spankatola, I have no problem with Dorian being gay. Dorian has thus far been a great character. To me it looked like the rumor implied something sexual because just before that scene I was doing Dorians companion quest which was about him being homosexual and his father not accepting him.

With that being said, the fact that the scene started as I went to Dorian after the quest to see he was doing and Gizzele refusing to repeat the rumour further strengthen the impression I was getting.

Also, you also assumed that me thinking this way is somehow due to my insecurities when it is not. I have no problems with homosexuals and I like you, am straight.

In fact, my wife left me because I had a secret bastard with my Mexican maid.

Dorian and Mother Gizelle or whatever her name suggests their are rumors about me and Dorian, even though I'm not romancing him and I'm going all in for Cassandra.

So Bioware, rumors are that I'm GHEY for Dorian because I did his personal quest which was full of dung btw. I didn't pick any of those stupid heart shaped options because that is what I'm trying to avoid, no? It's pretty sad because Dorian was an alright character.

Hopefully this is a bug. It's quite annoying.

Well, I did hear a rumour on my travels that you were seen with various other men - just a rumour, mind.

No, I don't hate Dorian. I still like him as a character. Maybe i should have reworded that part.

I did Dorian's quest just before that scene which was about his father not accepting him as gay, so take that in context. Maybe, I misinterpreted it to a certain degree but some people here have posted the rumor could have a sexual undertone and that's what I took from it. I didn't feel political at all.

I think there are just multiple interpretations.  Both seem legitimate and had multiple people mention them.

This quest always spawns after his other personal quest.  It's tied to his approval (and bugged, btw, so be happy you even got it).

Basically, what I got from it is that you have a big old homosexual crush on Dorian.  It's okay.  I won't tell anyone (unlike Mother Giselle).
