So I've heard that if the Warden and Inquisitor are both Dalish, the letter from the Warden will address it. Can anyone post it, or tell me what it says?
Dalish Warden letter? (Spoilers)

It's pretty much the same as the letters to the other Inquisitors except for the final bit that's like:
In closing, I wish you luck. This world of the shemlan is a difficult one for our kind, and I can only imagine the pressure of leading the Inquisition, an organization dedicated to the Chantry, while staying true to the Way of Three Trees. May Mythal protect you in your quest, and Andruil bless your hunt.

Cool! Too bad my first import was a dead dalish warden.

So I see that they decided my Dalish Warden is a Pro-Dalish Dalish and refers to humans by a racial slur despite me not playing them as such. Guess I'm not importing them. ![]()

To be fair, it was probably muscle memory.

Is there a different letter from a dwarf to another dwarf then?

Yep. Not sure if a Dwarf Noble has one too.

In Bioware's defence you couldn't exactly be anti-dalish dalish in DA:O, and shemlen doesn't necessarily have to be a racial slur.
But I do understand where you're coming from, I'd hate my pro-chantry dalish in DA:I to somehow turn like this in a future game >.>

Hell Abelas even calls the Dalish Inquisitor a shemlen apparently, as all it really means is 'quick child'. All elves have quickened to the same life span as a human, seeing as we seem to be getting some hints that elven immortality was at least in part true, so it makes sense. I think it's only a slur when shortened to 'shem'.

Well, the Inquisition didn't seem that dedicated to the Chantry to me.
Guess it's just dalish paranoia again.

You could certainly not be supportive of them, and yes it is a slur.
Slur: an insinuation or allegation about someone that is likely to insult them or damage their reputation.
The term shemlen is a term coined by the ancient elves because they saw the human race as children compared to them, hence the meaning being 'quick child'. That is a slur since it is an insinuation or allegation about another race that is insulting said race.

If they thought it applied to everyone, they would refer to themselves as shemlen. Yet they don't. They only call humans and occasionally an elf that isn't one of them, which they view as no better than humans, a shemlen.

The Warden is far to the west, beyond known Thedas. This is probably the first time they've ever even heard of this new 'Inquisition.' Cut em some slack.

And the first thing that crosses their mind must be:
"Chantry related, no doubt. Those dirty shemlen."

How much, though? We don't know.
You still just heard about this new group, named an 'Inquisition,' and founded by the hands of the Divine. It's not a strange concept that somebody just hearing about it would assume Chantry...

It's not a racial slur. You can consider it one. But it's not. It basically means 'mortal'. As we know the Ancient Elves think of modern Elves, Dalish or otherwise, as shemlen too.
Some folks go out of their way to be annoyed though. The way of the world I guess.

So calling another race as children compared to you is not insulting the race in any way, shape, or form?
And I am annoyed because they changed how my character was. My Dalish Warden never said the word shemlen or worshiped the Elven gods once in all of Origins.
