I like the companions way better in Inquisition. Origins has some good characters like Alistair and Morrigan, but it also has characters that I think are kind of flat and uninteresting like Sten and Oghren. There are good things about even those characters, but I don't feel like they bring much to the table. In Inquisition, even the characters I don't like as much still seem to have well developed personalities. All of them provide conversations and other interactions that I think are interesting.
All of the Inquisition companions that I've endeavored to get close to have also had at least one scene that I found very moving. Cassandra's vulnerability is conveyed very well and without compromising her other characteristics. Dorian's confrontation in the Redcliffe tavern is earnest, emotional, and available regardless of whether you're romancing him or not. Blackwall's secret took a character that I already liked a great deal and made him better through the use of a terrible act from his past. Even characters that I find disagreeable are still well written. I may not like several of Sera's attributes, but she has redeeming qualities that prevent me from writing her off completely.
