I've been pugging it up for a decent part of the day, so far.
In most games I've played today, we had an idiot (usually some kind of warrior) who'd run on ahead and aggro everything while we were in a treasure room, basically "Leroy Jenkins"-ing it up. End result? Not pretty. I'm talking enemy hordes so big that they overwhelm all three of us non idiots when they come box us in the treasure room, even when we have the benefit of chokepoints. In other words, they didn't just snag one encounter; they tried to mad dash through everything.
When it happens three freaking games in a row, with different people, ugh.
WHY ARE PEOPLE SO STUPID!?

I think those people are chasing the leaderboard and that's why they do that. I find it quite annoying. Unless they are the leader of said lobby, they shouldn't be running ahead Leroy style, and definitely should not be overwhelming their group with too many mobs. Some people just don't know how to team play.

You can't stop the Leeroy.
Or just the WoW players in general who think they can run dungeons on auto run.

You just don't know how to PuG.
Assassin - Rush spawn and stab the biggest enemy in the dick.
Legionnaire - Run around smashing vases and hoovering up that delicious 13 gold.
Keeper - Cast Barrier on self then basic attack (repeat).
Me - Can't beat 'em, join 'em. "Leerooooooyyyyyyyyy... Jennnkiiiiiiiiiiiiins."

Some people just have to be _______ (insulting expletive) so they can ______ (negative verb) like a _____ (noun which creates an unflattering simile)!
Seriously, is there some way we can all collectively agree to kick these players, UNLESS they announce in the pre-match lobby that they want to Speed Run? Or if you want to do this and don't feel you need the rest of the Lobby, just run a Private Match and Solo for your Promotes... Starting to ruin most PUGs.

Right now this seems to be some kind of Reaver-sickness, because of their huge damage and self heal ability they think they can survive anything. Well, they cant.
And they cant even seem to learn from the mistakes they make... and how annoying it is for Three other People having to Waste time and restart a run because he/she jumped head long into a end of stage-Group totally by him- or herself.............. and dies instantly to an assassin.

Surprised to see everybody in this thread agrees that running ahead is annoying. Usually these threads have one or two naysayers who always pull the "well treasure rooms are a waste anyway" line. Something I never really got. Why are you playing MP if not to get money for better gear? For experience? Experience has a finite end (level 20), seems silly to be the douchebag of the group and force the rest of the party to either carry your selfish ass as you flail ahead of the group or open the door to the next area and warp the rest of the party with you, regardless of what they were doing. This is the sole reason why I wish that voting to kick somebody was more visible. If you want to speedrun for whatever reason, go to LFG and find a group of people to do that with, don't be "that" guy and ruin the experience for everybody else.
If you are so 1337haxxorz then go start your own PRIVATE match and solo it yourself. If you need other people to be able to complete it, well then, suck it up and go make a post in LFG or some other forum to find like minded players. Failing that, don't be the loser who botches a run because you wanted to save 20 seconds of your precious MP career instead of letting the rest of the group get the gold that they played this match to get in the first place.

Agree completely. I stated in another thread that they should have a matchmaking toggle to allow for Speedrunners to group up. As it stands now, I can understand if you have a large number of characters unlocked and decent gear, why people feel like promoting and store chests are their only goals.Surprised to see everybody in this thread agrees that running ahead is annoying. However, this is a game played with a "team" of other people, who may not have the same level of progress in their equipment, character unlocks or understanding of the game, who might benefit from sticking with the group, learning their characters and gathering as much gold and as many potential items as possible to build their manifest.
So either we need a way to separate out these two groups or one seems destined to always annoy the other.
This is a game. It should be fun.

Nah, only if the bonus objective is in jeopardy whilst you are in a treasure room should you need to worry about it. If you run passed rooms to complete the objective (which is often near the end of the stage) then most players will either forget about the other rooms, not feel like running back or just blindly charge into the rest area and open the door. You are only inviting the possibility to miss those rooms if you skip them to favor the objective when it isn't warranted.

While those kinds of people are extremely annoying, it's not entirely their fault. Something is buggered with the enemy's aggro radius and threat.
One time I loaded in and had to run afk (team knew). Came back, and my teammates are way ahead of me, which is fine, yet every enemy group they aggroed completely ignored ALL OF THEM and came gunning for me, all the way at the beginning, even though I hadn't so much as moved. Many times, even letting warriors get aggro and not even attacking, enemies will come at someone else in the group and completely ignore the guy that just taunted them. They'll even go out of their way to get at that person.
Actually, if you're smart and realizing it's happening, it's very easy to take advantage of. When I noticed the enemies were completely ignoring everyone and just aiming for me, I'd hide behind a pillar and watch as everyone picked them off on their way to me. I barely had to do anything. Another time, the entire instance came running at us the minute we opened the doors. We thought it was just a particularly large group, but after we killed them all (with some effort) it was completely clear the rest of the way to the next door.
Bit of a digression but, yeah, point is, enemies are wonky.

That, and I have never once seen the objective be in danger before entering the room it's in. That seems to trigger the countdown, as it were. Also, I've had rooms where we couldn't get Heirlooms while enemies were standing, and some idiot teleported me forward to the next area as I was collecting them. People simply give zero craps about anything. "OMG TEH SPEEDRUNZ!" Bunch of stupid jerks.

Kinda agree, especially when the immediate area has no more enemies but DOES have a treasure room door.
And you're trying to get everyone's attention.
And just as you bash down the door figuring you'll just do it yourself, you are magically transported to the next zone with them.
And THEN the dude gets on the mic and goes, "Oh, crap, didn't realize there was a room there."
*sigh*
Yes. It's why I wasn't following you and kept shouting, "Here! Here! Come over here!"
Instead of just blindly rushing ahead.

Yes it's damned annoying, and selfish. Except - if it's perhap an alchemist or assassin stealthing up quickly to try to assist the group with strategic bomb placement, or thinning the archer ranks before the group gets there.

100% agreed on this front. I do the same with my own alchemist; I cloak and flank, laying elemental mines at everything's feet so my party can come in and swat them around for even more explosions. Doing so when stealthed is an incredibly viable strategy - IF the party is close enough to capitalize on it! Still a useless move if the party is far away. I mean, I've made it work once, but that was only because my entire party collectively took a smoke break at the same time (they announced it over their mics as I was throwing the first Elemental Mines.)

When this happens to me its 9 times out of 10 an archer or hunter, my experience with bow users in most multiplayer games is that the nooblets are attracted to the class.
There is a reason hunters in world of warcraft got a nickname.

l2pug OP. The arguments are situational. If it's Routine, idc if some JA decides to run ahead. I DO care however if said person(s) are under-equipped to handle a spawn or chest boss. These are the guys that wreck the team because they try to solo it when they get separated from the party. Let them eat cake. I run ahead all the time but I know when I'm out matched so I wait for my team. If the (?) is half-way on the other side of the map then I wait for my team to finish raiding before moving forward. Threatening and Perilous are completely different. If you pull a LJ then you're just being an a-hole. On T and P (tee hee I just said TP), you shouldn't speedrunning however I'm not going to waste a game opening every room when I got scrubs in my party. I'd rather have them as cannon fodder for the later Zones, then to have them bleed out early in the game. I've said this before... there is no long-term strategic difference between looting all rooms and speedrunning (and yes there's a difference between SRunning and XPRunning). I've hosted plenty of speedrun lobbies with PUGs. The complaints are low. The only ones that do are the Mic Commander Shepard's that randomly drop in trying to tell everyone how to play. Those guys end up getting booted at the end of the game (that's majority vote), instead of me being kicked from my own lobby. My Xbox Live profile hasn't taken a hit either. My lobbies are "Ready Up or GTFO". We don't waste time window shopping and lolly-gagging during mission. I would also add that there are 100 operation completed per character challenges. That's a plus one for speedrunning. So this may come as quite a shock to the BSN community but general play community doesn't always agree with your consensus.
