I am playing a mage and wondered if mages can wear the varoius armors, and if so, what are the effects?  I'm sure there has to be some kind of negatives, but an armored arcane warrior seems logical.  Plus I have this lovely Blood Dragon armor, seems a shame to waste it.

Yeah, pretty sure they can, but getting strength to the mid-20s to 30s to be able to wear most heavy armors seems like a waste. Medium armor might work alright though.

It seems like all non robe (cloth) armor will increase your fatigue, which may or may not concern you greatly. If you use many Sustained spells, it will really tax your mana.

Medium is only slightly better than light and costs much more fatigue. Light is the way to go unless you want to go Heavy. (Or take Arcane Warrior which lets you bypass the strength requirements altogether.)

You could always give your Blood Dragon armor to Alistair or other companion. Or sell it for some easy cash.

But how does it affect your spell casting? Do you carry a sword in one hand and flig spells with the other? I have been mighty curious about this.

As a mage, you can wear or wield whatever you meet the requirements for. But wearing heavy armor will eat up a lot of your mana due to fatigue, and wielding normal weapons will not be as effective in the hands of a mage. I haven't tried Arcane Warrior, so this may alleviate some of these drawbacks.
