Another reason why time travel magic should never have been introduced to DA:I.
If someone could whack the Bioware employee on the head that came up with the solution of "time travel!" when the level designers/writers wanted a level set in the future, that would be great, thanks.
So, did they ever explain the invitation? (early game spoilers)

I'm glad it can all be ignored now, since such a thing only ever worked with the Breach.
I thought it was smart when they laid out the rules of magic on the DA forums before DA:O was released, saying how mages can't just teleport somewhere else and such... I forget everything else in that thread except no teleporting...
Edit: Although, it did make sense since the Fade is a whole other plane of existence that doesn't go with the same rules of time, as has been seen before in Origins, with that one village in Awakening and such. Still, having the Fade blend with Thedas on such a level is unnerving, which is why it is hard for my character to wholly agree with Solas in the beginning when he talks about how nice it would be to remove the Veil... I just have to stare at him like he is a lunatic for a bit, which it turns out he kinda is...

*steps up on stage in fine suit, smiles and nods to retained applause and general signs of recognition by the audience as it quiets down. Then bows formally and inhales deeply*
WHY DID YOU OPEN PANDORA'S TIME TRAVEL BOX, BIOWARE?
*clears throat*
That is all.
*bows again and off*

The time magic that Alexius uses is the culprit. You do meet the real Fiona in Val Royeaux, but her memory gets magically bollixed.

They closed it again though.
