I am playing a Qunari warrior that doesn't like magic or mages, but I am worried there will be no benefits to refusing to allow Vivienne into my group.  I am torn between role-playing my character and missing out on a significant character and related content.

Can you guys help me decide?  If there's no gameplay advantage to refusing, I will just accept her, but I'd really hate to be punished for staying in character.

There isn't really a benefit apart from role playing your character the right way. However Vivienne turned to be pretty good against some dragons on my playthrough, so I would advice you to keep her unless you find her too annoying.

I only wish I had chosen a different main character so I could see all the content on my first playthrough without compromising my internal narrative.  I just don't know why they'd give you the option.  There shouldn't be a right or wrong choice, but that is just an opinion.  I went ahead and accepted her.

I have recruited Vivienne twice but never had her in my group.  This time around I have not recruited her at all and I don't see any difference.  Maybe one time I should play it where I have her in the group and see if it is different but I just have a hard time liking her.  I hardly talk to her but every time I do and she says "my dear" I cringe.

Sure there's an advantage, you get to not have that ****ing c*** around to pollute Skyhold with her presence. In my 1st game Adaar recruited her cause I wanted to see if there was scenes where you get to shout her down or punch her or something and then ****** her off into leaving, or kill her if possible. But there wasn't any of that and making her leave seems impossible, and along with other things I wasn't satisfied with my characterization so I deleted that save a remade my Adaar, this time refusing her membership in the inquisition. In my next game, playing Lavellan I refused her too because she didn't like circle mages with their heads full of chantry drivel and their woefully limited skill. In my 3rd game as a rogue Trevelyan I also refused her because that character disliked haughty noble types because of resentment towards her own family

I'm not sure what kind of characters I'll make next but I'm never recruiting her ever again, worst BW character ever
