Rumor is that neither Win 7 or 8 will support Directx12, it will only be supported by Windows 10. If this is true, I'm going to hold off on upgrading my gaming OS until Win 10 is released. I see no point in getting Win 8 at the moment if it won't support the latest rendering software.

Word is, Windows 7 and 8 will be getting the new rendering features as part of DirectX 11.3. DirectX 12 will have the advantage of a lot better CPU performance due to the low level nature of the API.

Incorrect. Micrcsoft has stated that DX12 will be released for 8.1, it will not however be backported to Win 7.

Those who buy 8,1 will get 10 for free as an upgrade. Or at least that was what i was reading on techsite news around the time of the 10 preview release.

Hmm, thanks for clarifying. Still thinking I'll wait for Win 10.

Have fun waiting at least one full year for a final release.

No one is quite sure about this yet. Microsoft hasn't said yet one way or the other. If it is a paid upgrade, I expect it will be cheap, however.

Apple giving away updated OS X for free has put Microsoft in a tight spot as far as upgrades are concerned, and considering Windows 8/8.1 is not overall very popular (currently doing far worse in market share than Vista ever did...) I think people will be very upset if they have to pay more than $10 or $20 to upgrade from 8/8.1 to 10.

Scoobydooby, did you test the max/minprocessorcount at all? I'm just curious about whether or not the commands increase fps.
For example: my i7 3770k @ 4.4 (4 cores with hyperthreading making 8 virtual) with no commands I get 4 threads according to perfoverlay, but with the command I get 7.

I didn't notice an fps increase, but I didn't test extensively, and when I did it was before the patch and no matter what settings I changed, nothing changed, so I'd need to test now that the game is more stable for me.

Are you telling me that modern games with heavily multi-threaded engines work better on modern operative systems?

Stop the presses!

Is the slowdown in Supreme Commander Forged Alliance as bad in Windows 8 as well, anyone tried it?
