Hi,

I'm posting in the no spoilers section, as I haven't finished the game, but trying to work out some things... so would like to get community feedback, but without getting actual spoilers about the story.

To put things in perspective:

- I have not closed the breach yet

- I have managed to play 60+ hours tho (re-start-itus! lolz)

- I know what happens to Haven

- I do know the name of a/the bad guy (well, I know a name... but not if it's the actual big baddie of the game... don't spoil it)

- I do know we can influence/dictate/decide who will become a certain major personage in a certain organization.

- and umm... that's it :P

What I'm curious about is the outcomes for different groups and such - are these influenced by conversations you have with your inner circle / party members (ie Viviene, Varrick, Iron Bull, etc) or not?

So for instance, I've just done the 'siding with the mages' quest and went with the alliance with them. I then talked to Viviene about this and since I've decided my character is a bit of a schitzo and flip-flops and tries to appease everyone where possible... said what I thought Viv would like (ie circles re-formed, get Cullen to train templar's, etc)... and got approvals as expected.

What I'm wondering about - will that conversation dictate the ending for the Mages? Or is that an approval/disapproval & RP mechanic only? Will what I say to Viv there & then dictate whether Mages end up free at the end of the game, or stuck back in circle towers?

The conversation choices are 90% RP.

There are a few choices you make though that will have a marked impact on the game, however most of these will have a little box beside them saying "if you do this, such and such will happen". In general, unless something you say is quite obviously a big choice, its more or less irrelevant to the grand scheme of things.

The game cant rely on most of your conversations because of the people who do try to appease everyone for reputations sake.

They can't take "mages should be back in the circle where its safe" as your gospel choice when you also spout off about freedom to other characters.

This answer was much harder to give without spoilers or asking for more examples.
