I've never understood the issue with players wanting to see their characters' faces (this has popped up in quite a few games I've played). Still... I guess having the option for those that want it to be this way is only fair.

I imagine they'll patch it or something once the release troubles are dealt with.

Well when you make a character in a game that has lots of story and dialogue, people kind of want to see the emotions their character are portraying.....unless you're a Renegade and want to look like a totaly badass...now that I think about it, seeing Darth Vader's face kind of ruined his aura of badassness

Ahh...but you are forgetting that a renegade shep will get face morphology like glowing scars and red eyes.  Would you not want to see that in cutscenes as well?

I really expected them to at least do what they did in Dragon Age and hide the helmet for conversations.

If they wanted to add to the realism, they should have a toggle option, but before every piece of dialogue physically showing shepard removing his helmet. There you go. Realistic, time-consuming, and a pain in the ass, but so would be removing your helmet to say something in that situation.

When people asked for helmets to persist in breathable atmospheres I don't think they meant they wanted them welded to their heads.

Haha, silly people. Neither Iron Man nor Megatron can take their heads off.

The one perplexity about this, is all the effort they put on the character faces. And BOOM, not even going to emphasize them. It's maddening!

I got ME2 last night and I can confirm that the bonus pre-order armor has PERMANENT helmets. You CANNOT remove them EVER... which basically means I'm never wearing them ever as I didn't spend hours crafting my character's face just to stare at an emotionless black visor in dialog.

Disappointing to say the least.

Shepard != Megatron. Though.... there is potential for a spinoff there... *wanders into daydream*

I'm still sitting here without the game because I'm waiting on UPS to deliver my preorder.

Turns out I'm not even going to use the preorder armor because of this. So I could've just gone to buy the game 12 hours ago and been playing it instead of waiting for nothing.

While the DLC armor's look very cool it is a complete fail on bioware's

part to not allow us to remove the helmet. Having a full helm covering

our faces and expressions during conversations in a heavily dialogue

adventure is pretty stupid. Why would they remove that feature. Is there a reason behind this? Love the game but makes me not wanna wear the armor due to this. Come on man

at least you won't have a helmet on with the casual outfit, but that is "mostly" limited to the Normandy

Chris Priestly locked down the other thread about the helmets...so at least they know about it. I just wish they would fix this annoying problem sometime soon.

A dev response on why this decision was made would be great.

Sorry, these armors are SETS of armor. The helmets do not remove. This is by design and not a bug.

Yea I don't think people were saying it was a bug but a rather stupid design flaw.

IT would be hilarious however that if you did have the terminus equipped if when you were in casual clothes he/she still had the terminus head.

Can I become a designer because I seem to have an idea better than the one some of the Mass Effect team had.

Actually, I think they did, they just never mentioned that the helmet wouldn't EVER come off, not even during cutscenes.

Doesn't make it any less of a retarded decision.

We know it's not a bug, just a stupid decision. The dialogue and connections between the characters is one of the most important things in Mass Effect. Seeing your main character's face is kind of a big deal in a game like this. But when we use these DLC sets of armor, we can't even see Shepard's face. Genius.
