In Western Approach. I killed the dragon. Had the bridge built over poison wastes, first part. Now I'm stuck again. I can't interact with the flags, if that's what I'm supposed to do. I can't enter Andoral, or go further northeast. What haven't I done, or need to do, please.

Just follow what the quest is telling you to do.

On which quest are you? What does the quest log say you're supposed to do?

Establish the fourth camp, which I can't reach yet. And find the source of the Darkspawn, but nothing shows on the map, except the two gates I can't enter yet.

Try setting the "find the source of the darkspawn"quest as active or read it's description. There should be an area around Griffon Keep filled with gas, go around there and check it out for darkspawn.

Thanks. I do have that active, but I will have to run around the Keep again to see if anything happens.

I guess I'll have to give up on this quest, do something else.

The darkspawn quest advances the questline and opens the rest of the map.

Look, have you been to the area filled with gas that I told you about? Slightly north of Griffon Keep?

Yes, I've been all over that area as far north as I could go. The gas pushes me back. I know there is something I'm obviously missing, but I need to quit for now.

Btw, I've killed dozens of Darkspawn around the Keep.

I'm having the same problem. I gave up too. I didn't realize that the darkspawn and dragon quests have to be done first. I'll try that next time.

You defeated the Venatori Mage that was leading their forces, yes? Did you then speak to him? It's easy to miss that he's still alive, depending where he was when you dropped him. On my first play-through, I was confused for a few minutes before backtracking and scouring that little ruin where I fought him. I only noticed him because I heard his ragged breathing and turned to see what it was.

If you look closely while you're in the gas at the darkspawn spawn (ha) location, you can spot a quest marker. Clicking on it makes an operation available at the war table to clear the gas, like the one you did before.

Gotcha. This game is so huge, I took a stab at something I thought might be the issue, based upon experience 90+ hours ago. :/ I'm likely to be back in the Western Approach tomorrow, for my second play-through. I'll keep an eye out, should the OP be unfortunate enough to still be stuck.

Finally figured this out. Got the fourth camp, the quarry, took care of the darkspawn, captured servio and killed a dragon. Yeesh. Now to get through those locked doors...

I've put hours into this. I won't put more until I know what to do. Just running around killing the Darkspawn is getting me nowhere.

Mind posting a screenshot of your map and a screenshot of your journal with the said quest?

Just northeast of Griffin Keep is a small wooden protrusion a little inside the gas but not really far enough to kill you. When you get on it there will be a flag point to claim.  Claim the flag point and an operation will open up.

 

If you've done this go back to skyhold and spend 5 power on the Source of the Darkspawn quest.  It's easiest if your prepared to quicktravel when you do this.  This will build a second bridge over the gases and take you up into the mountains northeast of that point.  Follow the route from there and you will get behind to get everything you need to.

I was finally able to advance the quest and get the Source of the Darkspawn. I don't even know how I advanced the quest.  I did get Servis, he was laying on the steps.

I never found the dragon there. You really have to do all the quests for the researcher to activate it?

No, you don't need to kill the dragon to move things forward.
